It's funny how everyone is hating on Brooke and saying she copied Gaga when not even Gaga cares. She likes Brooke and is friends with her so why are you Gaga fans so butthurt? While the adolescents argue, I just watched a visually striking video. The video depicts the dangerous attachment to money, sex, and greed, and because of excess, the consumer becomes consumed and every shred of her humanity is gone in the end. People screaming it's evil or weird is only proving how brilliant the director and the artist is because they got that reaction out of a viewer. In the end, if anyone knows anything about Candy's obsession with duality, you might take this video as an example of embracing one side while ignoring the other. Light and darkness.

@Androgynary10 жыл бұрын
Alex Esparra That's true, I wouldn't argue with that. I don't doubt that she's worked hard to get where she is today either, which I can definitely respect. At the same time, her father's several high positions and affluence most likely afforded her with greater opportunities not only in regards to monetary support but also in networking with the top industry dogs. Attaining her career would probably be significantly more difficult should she have come from a dirt poor family with zero connections and early financial support. Not hate though, I still think she's got a cool artistic vision regardless.

@Nikele196710 жыл бұрын
Dark is played out already. Come on, if an artist needs to be dark ALL THE TIME, EXCLUSIVELY, they lack creativity. How long will evil and illuminati themes be the old "new?" I'm so over it...let's move on... Gaga is much more exciting as an artist. Just check out all of the imagery she has done for ARTPOP, so many different themes covered, mesages to youth about self confidence. creativity, sexuality, fun, Goddess, and so much more.She encourages us all to find our own meaning from the album. She triggers our imagination and inspires us to become the best us we can be. What does Klein do?!! uh, try to make things look scary, illuminati oh my. Nicola designed sets, costumes, most likely make up too.I don't think the direction is good at all. The beginning doesn't even fiit and I didn't find myself interested in what she was up to. A fast car/ bike... big deal! undressing before suicide... ok, slightly more interesting i guess... Nicola would have been able to showcase his talent much more had the video kept my interest. The fashion, makeup and music were great. her voice...ick.

The car crash seems to be a allegory to Princess Diana? This video is disturber, despite the fact that the photography and the direction are exquisite, after all we are talking about Steven Klein. In the end the conclusion to me is "opulence leads people to death" metaphorical or real.
@paragon_moon84008 жыл бұрын
No it's the demons taking over her that leads to her death. This is fucked up.
@juliasch78548 жыл бұрын
i was deadass getting the same idea. like an allegory for a life that caters to opulence is a life that you cant leave. like a metaphor for fame in general, with sponsors decking out the concept of the person they buy
@aFoxyFox.6 жыл бұрын
Its not specific to Diana in that scene, nothing really indicates it has anything to do with Diana. Diana was not known to be a gold digger seeking only wealth and she was not driving, it occurred in a tunnel and is linked to paparazzi camera men chasing the vehicle and so none of these very stereotypical Diana themes are present. The person in the vehicle here is driving and is distressed themselves. The demon of Opulence, Mammon, laughs at the burning demise of the never satisfied pursuit and hunger for all forms of excess in things perceived to have some sort of status value, like sex, jewelry and treasures, cars, beauty, whatever.

You ought to research the NYC sex clubs of the 80s. That’s where a lot of the Alig type Limelight kids drew inspiration from. Also the New York Dolls band. But the 70s-80s gay club scene is really something else. Those dudes were pushing it. It’s where Clive Barker got his inspiration for his Cenobite characters. Check out the Al Pacino movie Cruising for a peek into that world. Be warned though: it’s pretty dark.

She's not copying Gaga. I've loved Brooke Candy for years and seeing her image and radical lyrical change is not from her 'copying' someone, its from her being fine tuned and polished so she can go mainstream.
