Cody ko was a grown ass man, he knew what he was doing and did it anyway. As a mother of a daughter, it hurts my heart to hear Tana say by comparison of all the things she's been through, the Cody ko thing is not that bad... But truly it is. What he did happens to a lot of girls and even younger than 17 so the fact that people are undermining it just shows how predatory this society truly is, that we defend men who are "likeable" and it's the world where these types of men before him made it to be this way. The whole notion that "omg i feel bad because of his wife and baby" HE DID THAT SHIT TO HIMSELF!!!!! If he didn't want this to resurface or come out then he should've NEVER did it, he wasn't 18,he was twenty fucking five 25.....men go to war and die, create families, vote, drive, drink, GRADUATED COLLEGE ALREADY all younger than 25. He knew what he was doing and chose to take advantage of a minor, and these are HIS consequences and repercussions of doing so, and quite honestly he should get MORE shit than just a couple of podcasts talking about it and small articles.... He will reap what he sowed, everyone eventually does one way or another. To all my young girls out there and women in general, always be safe and remember that there are real monsters walking among us...

Well said! I’m happy that Tana doesn’t feel traumatized by the situation. I am the same way with a lot of shit that’s happened in my life, because like she said, I’ve been through worse. But at the end of the day, wrong is wrong. The fact that people are blaming Tana for that happening to her is disgusting. Like I said, I’m happy that Tana is not emotionally connected to the situation enough for it to truly feel super traumatic. She’s relatable for that and I hope that if one day it does begin to bring up unpleasant feelings, that she gets the love and support she needs. In a way, it’s good that the situation came to light because although so many people are being shitty towards her, so many people are also supporting. It can also help her young audience recognize the signs of grooming and know that it is wrong regardless of how mature you might feel in the moment. Also, that even if it unfortunately did happen to you, it was not your fault it was the groomer who knew what they were doing and chose to be a POS….
@abigails41396 ай бұрын
@@liajimenez2054 100% agree! Also, a great way to reevaluate tough situations like these is to change the perspective on it. How would you feel if this happened to your best friend? Or your sister? Or your own daughter? It is hard sometimes when you go through a lot of traumatic events in life that you compare and diminish them amongst each other. But that doesn't make one situation more or less worse than the other. What happened to Tana is really that bad, and again as a mother who has a daughter, I want every woman and girl out there to know that they matter. Their traumas and experiences MATTER. The more we discuss what he did, the more others can come forward one day and discuss their experiences too. I applaud Tana for being brave enough to speak on it, she is lighting up the torch for the girls and women to understand that this is NOT okay, and this is NOT their fault. You are seen, you are validated, and you matter.

I mean I don’t think she meant she has processed it in a healthy way. I think she meant that it wasn’t anything that she was not used to, acting grown as a child. Like it didn’t traumatize her bc that was what she was used to from men Or, she’s had things affect her in the past that’s “incomparable” to sleeping with Cody ko. For example if someone grows up in a household where there’s not enough food in the house they May describe their home experience to someone and that person way react like “oh my gosh! I think an important takeaway here is that Tana DOESNT need to feel traumatized for this situation to be unacceptable. I think we’re in a point in our culture where we think in order for someone/situation to hold any weight, some form of severe identifiable trauma has to be associated. But I don’t think this is true. Situations can still be bad and not cause trauma. And Tana said it best, trauma is complex and she may be experiencing it in ways she can’t even understand herself right now which is okay. It sounds like that whole time was complicated for her and that event was just bundled up into the whole thing. Being a public figure is not black and white and I think she’s handling this situation the best she can

I just had to comment. I've never been a fan of Tana lol No hate! I'm not really her target audience. I was, however, a huge Cody Ko fan. Bought his merch (which I don't often do lol), subbed to all of his channels and Kelsey, and was active in his Reddit. Up until I was made aware of this situation, and that led me to find out about the situation with his friend...ugh. Anyway, I unsubscribed from everything that had to do with him and Kesley as well. I understand how likable he is. And Tana is 100% right. If he was someone people didn't really like, she would be met with more compassion. Also, people seem to be misunderstanding the situation. You did not accuse him of SA. You WERE taken advantage of, period. I was SA'd as a teen. I was coherence by an older boy in my teens. The fact that people are acting like this is on you is so telling of how messed up this world is. These parasocial relationships people have with celebrities, KZbinrs, influencers, etc, are so damaging. They act like they know Cody. Like he is their friend! LOL Ridiculous. His silence on this whole situation is so telling. Anyway, I'm glad you're speaking up. I hope that other people see you continue to speak the truth, regardless of any backlash, so that they won't end up being afraid to come forward. People are always like, "Why didn't you say something?" This is why. ❤

posting again bc so many people are purposely missing the point to stand up for cody. for all we know, tana could have actively pursued him at 17, or maybe he pursued her. it’s not about whether it was against her will or not. it’s the fact that as grown as she may have felt at 17, she was still a child, while cody (EIGHT years older, fully developed brain, adult man) was comfortable doing something legally and morally wrong to her. the blame will ALWAYS be 100% on cody, no matter tana’s involvement in the situation. he chose to act like a predator even after being called out. he knew exactly what he was trying to get away with. and tana is allowed to feel he didn’t “take advantage” of her while also reflecting on how wrong and illegal his actions were. she should be able to speak up about her experience without the public discrediting and blaming her.

This is just such an important reminder to believe, support, and advocate victims when they come out with their story, whether you like the alleged perpetrator or not. Victim blaming is what keeps SO many people quiet and makes them blame themselves, which is so so detrimental. I believe you Tana ❤

Cody was my favorite youtuber (outside of Tana). I'm talking about watching his videos every single day, notif bell on at all times. But since the second I saw the video from the live show, as someone who was also groomed by a grown man at 17 years old, even the thought of him sends me into complete disgust. I'm glad Tana isn't too affected by it and can stomach watching his videos, but I personally cannot imagine doing so ever again. It really goes to show literally anybody, even your most favorite people, can be horrible and vile. And that we don't really know influencers at all.

That’s how I felt about Colleen. Not the grooming, the Trisha stuff that happened lately! Then a few videos ago she said what she looks for in a friend & it just enraged me!! No comments about that’s the opposite of who you are. I don’t understand how we’re so wrong sometimes

I HATE saying it, but theres a difference when you're Tana at 17 vs many girls at 17. Tana had already slept with so many men at that point, so she's not really being groomed. Groomed into what? Grooming is the taking away of innocence. I was groomed by a 24 y/o when I was 16, turns out he exclusively targeted underage girls and my one of my biggest regrets is not having him charged. age of consent is 16 in my state where stuff happened, but he traveled from a neighboring state where the age of consent is 18, so I feel like there could be a charge there? im not sure. but I was innocent, virgin, had only kissed one other dude before him. that was not tana's situation. if we're gonna be fr, tana prob had a higher body count at 17 than cody did at 25. like, i'd bet money on it. so thats why Tana isn't affected by it. she had already been with a ton of men before and we don't know their ages. she was likely being taken advantage of by multiple adults while going to high school in Vegas. the aoc in california where I assumed it happened is 18 so it was illegal, but when you've slept with so many guys, the age of the particular guy doesn't really matter, and there isn't much if any grooming involved. tana had a rep for being easy, so he likely didn't have to wear her down over months, she probably just did it. idc if its unpopular to say, I was actually groomed and its an ENTIRELY different situation when the adult man is the only man you've ever known intimately at that point.

@@barbrothers2I'm sorry for what you went through and wish you well for the future, but your personal experience does not make you the gate keeper for what constitutes abuse and grooming. Just because Tanas experience differs to yours doesn't make it any less real or valid. Maybe the reason she seems to have coped so well is because she's actually desensitised to what happened due to her previous experiences. Maybe because of her traumatic family life she was seeking love and attention from anyone, and maybe a lot of her experiences were men taking advantage of her. Or maybe not, but the facts still remain and what Cody did was abuse. I just hope no young girl reads your comment and is put off opening up about her own abuse because of it... thinking well I've had sex before so that invalidates any experience after. Again, I really am sorry for what you went through, but your comment is victim blaming and dangerous. You don't get to compare others abuse to your own and qualify what's valid and what isnt

having watched until the end this episode just reminded me of much I value womanhood. being together, honest with each other, having a place to speak up, be vulnerable and truly open up. it’s so infuriating how much we do keep to ourselves, to protect others, minimizing what and how we feel, maybe because it IS so common. as tiring as this realization is, at the same time it made me just want to speak up, without caring, because we do kind of owe that to ourselves. if we don’t, literally no one else will for us
