Your parents are absolute gems to help you as much as they do. I suspect they found your previous attempts at 'packing' pretty hilarious- I know I did!! Having said that when a fellow nurse and I moved into a shared house our friends who came to help were dumbstruck at how pathetically we'd packed our hired van- almost arranged our stuff in there like it was an actual room😂😂 So moving is definitely just another of life's learning curves!! Btw, don't feel 'bad' in any way for moving to Boston for a job and apartment that didn't quite fit- it's all part of life and no doubt you've learned a lot from it. Hope the rent situation in NYC lowered prices for you. Good luck on the new endeavor. I am stunned! Rent in Boston/Cambridge was a lot worse when I was there circa 2008. a 2/2 for ~ 1600 was unheard of. I 1/1 $1350 in a luxury building? I was in a tiny studio off Newbury and was paying $1650 for a ground floor no doorman brownstone. When people say expensive I think $2800-$3000. Anything less than $1800 is reasonable. I paid $1550 in NC for a 1/1 and was thinking it's dirt cheap but expensive for NC. Atlanta however is crazy $2800 for a 2/1. God help me, moving there.
