Another great update. Boomer is fantastic to follow. We can all only hope to have our railroads look as great as his. When in Brooklyn, see if you can fit in some railfanning of the NYNJ float operation. That's the successor railroad of what I model (The New York Cross Harbor). Have fun in the USA.

@joelupinacci011073 thanks Joe. I am definitely heading down to the NYNJ yard in Bay Ridge. If you have any info on when they run or know anybody who does, let me know

If you haven't already thought of it, there's two guys you should try to meet up with in the US. Pittsburgh: DJ of DJ's Trains Staten Island: Big Bill & his South Brooklyn Railway DJ is a current engineer with CSX, and Bill is retired from the NYC subway system.

Thanks for the tip. The Pittsburgh part of the trip is going to be taken up with visits as am staying with a friend but I do want to go to Staten Island so I will try and reach out to Bill. Cheers

Excellent update, Steve. Lotsa exciting things ahead this year. Enjoy your trip to the US. I grew up in New Jersey just northwest of Manhattan, so you'll be in my old stomping grounds. The Class 66 overview sounds cool, too, I'm looking forward to that. Happy New Year!

All my grass is allways pinched and for variation some ready made tufts (but its nearly the same). I’ve statted with this when the longer static grass was released back then. I could only afford the grass and not the applicator. Pinching is easier with the longer grass (10-12mm). You can align those between your fingers to get them standing upright. Afterwards you can shave them down with a beard trimmer to preferred length. Even large fields can be made like that with a bit of time. I think I may even showed it in one of my earliest video’s but not completely sure. 🤔

It is a great way of doing it

In NL we have a supplier called Anita decor (website also I think). I allways buy there 10mm grass on swapmeat. They work great and have good varied colours.
@GenxDiorama24 күн бұрын
I also make my own tufts that way. Take a piece of parchment paper and I make some big drops of matte medium, tacky glue or pva and stick the long fibers in there almost straight up. Their weight wil spread them naturally like mikado’s and if not just gently push on top 👌

Thanks for the update Steve! Do you know if your Pittsburg trip will include a trip out to Horseshoe curve? About one hour and 40 minutes east of Pittsburg.

@@JosephMusgrove thanks mate. I believe that my train does go around Horseshoe Curve, though it may be dark on the way there as I arrive in Pittsburgh at 8pm

Steve have you tried the Heki grass mats for small grass areas? Can be torn or cut to the size and shape needed; Lance Mindheim suggests them.
@thebritishrailroader23 күн бұрын
@marka87 I have in the past but I find them a bit uniform. What I like about this method is you can get some really good variation in style, especially in the nooks and crannies that I have to fill. Thanks for the suggestion though 👍
