Flatbush is not the worst neighborhood. Maybe back in the day like 20 or 25 years ago but its actually much better than lots of of neighborhood in BK.

When I lived there in the 60s and 70s it was a safest neighborhood in New York

Brooklyn is very diverse draw fifty two different zip codes representing fifty two different neighborhoods. But basically there are only two Brooklyns. Brownstone brooklyn and flintstone brooklyn. I live in the predominantly chinese and somewhat italian section of Bensonhurst. Williamsburg is the home of the hipsters. Flatbush has a large caribbean community. We have many ethnic enclaves of poles, Hispanic, even orthodox jews. Many areas have become very gentrified in liberal. Many of my old italian bakeries and ethnic stores have closed. Planning to move to fort myers in two years...

Those people that stand in for food are not always jobless. A lot of the time, they're short on cash because something came up. NYC is very expensive. Usually, after you pay all your bills, you're not left with much at the beginning of the month. Everyone needs help through out their lifetime. Putting your pride away to stand in line for food is ok. Especially, if you need it.

@SOUTHERN LIFE Jose thank you for posting Bushwick yesterday. I am retired now and grew up on Long Island but lived with my wife to be in Bushwick Brooklyn for a few years together and a few years ago i lost her to overdose . Well all i can say is i lost everything and my whole world came apart . Things in life just weren't the same anymore and so I moved across country to El Paso Texas which i have watched as well . However the Bushwick video that you guys posted brought back some really deep good memories that I hold in my heart . Thank you again.
