lol... you honestly believe the owners wouldn't last long over the players? Wow... let me break this down... the owners are business people, have contacts in various aspects of the business, bank references and contacts, ties to media money, merchandise money, and there is a HUGE disparity of owner revenue vs player revenue (why do you think the players union does during contract negotiations?). Tell me how long the average NFL player will last out in the real world with little skills other than catching a ball for a living. Thanks for playing.

Is it the only way to bring attention to the issue? No. Is it effective? You just acknowledged the racism in our society on your show to your audience. That would not have happened without their actions. Now you are welcome to disagree with their tactics of bringing awareness, but you can't deny this protest has brought awareness to the issue. As for what the league can and cannot do about that, that is up to the agreements negotiated between the two sides and the actions the fans will tollerate by the owners. What they should do is stand with them like some of the NBA owners are doing. They don't have to, but they should. But they also have to follow employment law, which means they cannot be colluding against players, as has been VERY credibly alleged in the ongoing lawsuit.
