I listen to breaking news involving the 2002 Yankees just to hear the dynamic between these two. They would make the last 2 hours of the work day fly by. They also significantly increased listeners for every other time slot on the FAN. So fortunate to have grown up in jersey during that time. And Howard on KROCK in the mornings.

I'm a big baseball fan since game 3 of the 1973 WS and I love these 2 guys. I'm a Yankee and Mets fan. Mike and the Mad Dog had Great chemistry and know the game of baseball. A few things I miss in baseball and possibly why attendance has been dropping the last decade. It was very exciting watching a pitcher going for a no-hitter in the late innings. Pitchers don't pitch 9 innings anymore. It was very exciting when a pitcher had 16 strikeouts in the 7th inning going for the record. About 6 innings is the normal today so there is no chance of that happening today. It was great taken out the second baseman on a double play. Can't do that anymore. It was great when the catcher blocks the plate and the running comes barreling in trying to knock the ball out of the catchers glove. Can't do that anymore. It was great when the umpire made a bad call and the manager (Martin or Weaver) put on a show to excite the crown, now they have video replay. It was awesome when they had Twi-night double headers or regular double headers now they call it a day/night double header. It was great when they bunt to move the runners over. They still do but I'm sure from the top of my head it's down 65% in the last 40 years. It was great when there were 55,000 to 65,000 people and center field was 410-440 feet, now all ballparks are 11 to 15% smaller than they were years ago. It was great when you had two teams battling it out for the division and you had the best 4 teams in the playoffs. Although its not a bad idea to have more teams in the playoffs but instead of 3 divisions in each league they should have 2 divisions in each league because one of these years your going to have a 75 win team go to the playoffs. In 1994 they got lucky there was a strike because Texas was in 11th place in the American league but with a 52-62 .456 record they were in 1st place, BTW .456 = a 74-88 record. If they make two division in each league with 2 wild card you would almost guarantee the top 4 teams in each division would get in. Nobody wants a 15 games below .500 in the playoffs. It's just plain dumb.

In case you want to know how they did on the outcome of the over/unders... Mike went 5-1 and Dog went 3-3. Best part was when Dog said Tampa stinks. And they ended up winning 90 games..... "That's baseball Suzyn" Mike got the Astros wrong. Was correct on Indians, Angels, Phillies, Yankees, and Brewers. Dog got Rangers, Rockies, and Dodgers correct. Wrong on Mets, White Sox, and Rays. Good stuff!
