It’s clear to see why they chose this route. The only real fault I have for guys moving is when they’re made the Tour didn’t listen to players. Maybe that’s true to an extent. But realistically, even if the Tour wanted to try and do what LIV is doing, they couldn’t. While not confirmed the signing bonus money given to DJ, Phil and Bryson alone accounts for almost a third of the revenue the PGA generates in a year. That just isn’t possible to replicate. Can’t fault players for cashing in but them acting like this should’ve already been happening when it wouldn’t have been possible outside of a nation just dumping money in without an expectation of return is fairly annoying.
@Matt-cr4vv
@Matt-cr4vv 2 жыл бұрын
For all the flack the Tour gets they’re actually a generous league comparatively to the other major leagues. They share 55% of revenue in prizes compared to 50% in the nfl and nba. The issue is 55% of their pie is a lot smaller than 50% of those other pies. And the PGA let’s them market their uniform and keep the money. One of the major flaws players have been upset about is not owning their media rights in terms of their coverage in the Tour. But no major sports league gives that up. If the league doesn’t hold that then it has no asset to provide in the sense of a television deal. So i don’t fault them but their gripes also don’t really resonate for me . I could maybe give them something like a tour player having no sense of guarantee while other sports leagues do offer some kind of guarantee.

I too feel bad for professional golfers on the pga tour. Just imagine the hardship of playing golf for a living. Stacking cash upon cash, walking endlessly around in beautiful places only to be mocked by the meritocratic tyranny where you are supposed to perform well and your worth depends on your abilities. Good grief it’s so unfair just think about it……millionaire’s playing with a stick for money but can’t be certain of earnings every week after 36 holes of golf while 327 million workers globally are paid for certainty at their countries' minimum wage for work 7 days a week 8 to 10 hours a day. Think about it - the average PGA Tour player earned about $1.5 million in 2021. The national average salary in the US in 2021 was $56,310. REVOLT you underpaid, underprivileged golfers REVOLT and join the Saudi regime by sport washing their horrendous deeds. Why not and in the process destroy the very foundation your sport is built on and ignore the fact that you wouldn’t have had any notable career’s or legacies without it……….all of this destruction because of an selfish urge to have even more things and bigger jet’s. Good grief and good luck with that!!!!

Lmao so because you don’t have high leverage skills, they are supposed to never have any complaints? You’d be smart not to compare it to normal jobs bc real companies know they don’t have power over contractors. What foundation are you talking about exactly? The ncaa model? People doing nothing and then keeping the money? They don’t own anything on their own tour but somehow can’t pay caddies, won’t let a percentage of media rights go to the players. Do you understand how much money they’ve been keeping off the table? Guys are signing one deal and making more than the goat in their sport ever did. That’s not a good thing. Not to mention, THEY CAN DO BOTH. They are contractors man, they should be allowed to play whenever and wherever they want. “Their horrendous deeds” lmao we live in the USA (who does business with these regimes) you’re a moron if you don’t know we’re out doing terrible things in the world. Wake up

These golfers have made a point by leaving. The PGA was mostly ignoring player concerns until the LIV started attracting some of their players. Now the PGA is addressing player concerns. Ironically, it won't benefit the guys who left, but the players who stayed will now reap the benefits.

The schedule argument doesn't fly at all, and it's funny to hear Brooks bring it up at all after he's the one at the US Open who said he can play whatever PGA schedule he wants and you're never forced to play in any event. If you wanna play 3 events a year on the PGA tour, as long as you're qualified you can. It's not as feasible for lesser players but for guys who are always having decent success there's no requirement to play every week

@JeffSmith-eq3kc Жыл бұрын
@@brotherderek I agree about Rory and Scottie and LIV definitely doesn't have the absolute best in the world. I just dont know why it's necessary to diminish what these guys have done because they've joined LIV. Pat Perez has kept his card for 24 years. That's an insane accomplishment. Is he a superstar, no. Neither is the overwhelming majority of the PGA Tour. I actually have a good friend who has been on Tour for 6 years now. He's 29. His first two seasons he barely kept his card. He's playing awesome this year, particularly recently but it's not easy just to get to and stay on Tour. Someone who's done it for decades deserves credit. A guy like Kevin Na is similar. These guys have been massively successful. No reason to diminish that because they've joined LIV.

@@JeffSmith-eq3kc Well, in reality, I am well aware, except for Pat Perez, that these guys have had great success and are amazing golfers. I am not diminishing their careers. And even Pat has been a good journeyman for a long time, so props to him. Anyway, at present, I am not interested in seeing any of the guys who went to LIV, especially Pat Perez. My opinion. I hope the best golfers continue to play in the PGA. @Matt-cr4vv
@Matt-cr4vv 2 жыл бұрын
It makes sense in the context that you want to play the Tour for rankings points for one since LIV as of now doesn’t allow for any. Eventually, barring a chance in qualification standards, that puts the majors at risk. But it also makes sense to want to selectively play Tour events. Picking and choosing maybe ten big Tour events versus having to play 30+ events. The entire difference for them, I imagine, is having the choice to play a Tour event if you want to versus having to play a ton of them.
@Matt-cr4vv
@Matt-cr4vv 2 жыл бұрын
That being said I don’t fault the Tour for saying no. Yes they are independent contractors, hence why the PGA hasn’t been filing injunctions to prevent them from being able to play in LIV, but I don’t think that should require the Tour to let you play for them. While I don’t fault a player for choosing LIV, because outside of legacy every other metric leans towards LIV in terms of money and schedule, but I also don’t feel bad for them not being able to have their cake and eat it too by only cherry picking the best of what the Tour offers and leaving the undesireable things for full time Tour players.
