Brookside Miniature Railway

On the 9th July 2011, I made my first visit to The Brookside Miniature Railway, Cheshire's Premier 7 ¼ inch miniature railway operates within the Brookside Garden Centre in Poynton.
Brookside have Four Steam and Three Diesel Locomotives. On the day of my visit, I was lucky enough to see three of them, Amy Louise, Miss Katie and Mighty Max in action.
As you purchase your ticket at Brookside Central, be sure to have a look around the shop as this doubles as a Railway Museum and it is excellent. Your journey takes you over bridges, under tunnels and onto Bridge of Orchy in The Scottish Region, then returning to Brookside Central. A lovely journey with plenty to see.
The sun was shining and its plain to see from the faces of everyone on the trains, that everybody was enjoying themselves.

The Brookside Railway is in Poynton,Cheshire,England. The Union Pacific Loco just happened to be in service on the day of my visit. The entire railway is covered with railway signs and memorabilia from all over the UK.

Amazing Union Pacific engine.

@CRAZYhill112or999 Perfectly normal. When stationary any stray steam condenses into water in the cylinders (goes to lowest point) especially when the engine is cold. Normal practise is to keep the drain cocks open ( that's where the water is coming out) for several turns of the wheels when pulling away.

they were mostly bought or inherited. i asked a driver there once. god its changed now

they had to do a major clean up of the miniature railway recently due to a flash flood that hit Poynton, also since this video the cafe that you see as the train departs the station in the video has since been demolished and the garden centre is under some renovations right now but the railway itself is mostly unchanged save for a slight adjustment to the line due to the bypass that's currently being built.

Thank You very much for the information on the Brookside Railway. I was aware of the flooding but did not realise it was as bad as this video shows. To my shame It has just occurred to me that my visit was six years ago. ( where does the time go ) I really must pay another visit ASAP.

They run Steam locomotives but I'm not sure how the 'Diesels' are powered. Sorry I cant be more helpful.
