@@machoman6969 so because you don't get properly represented in media you have more of a right to be snobby about who's opinions matter? I don't see the correlation please explain. I mean if you just said flat out bad opinion or explained what someone's missing not being gay id understand you but you decide to just word things you're not gay so this movie isn't for you. Mean while the creators made it for every one and there's plenty of quotes to show that. Your idea of Privileged is a little dramatic. I'm black and I always wanted to see more black characters growing up. Now I get to see that and that's great. My goal was never to have more representation so I could tell other races they can't watch it. That's weird and creates a divide where otherwise you could find common ground. LOL! Yes, I caught that, too. The fact is that the movie is made by a gay white man, and he told his story from his point of view. Joseph is free to go out there and make the movie he wants to see. It's fine that neither one of them liked the movie because they thought Eichner's character was annoying, or they thought the movie wasn't funny--but I feel like they are attacking the audience that liked the film. Eichner is being called out by other reviewers for attacking people who didn't like the film or don't want to see it. Damn, I guess all Eichner succeeded in doing is creating a very divisive movie!

@@kagoon0709 honestly I don't think the large majority of his comments where personal. They both did a really good job explaining their specific gripes with characters and how the movie comes across. I just thought the saying white men part was kinda lame. You could tell that was a smirk of relating to what he meant(hence him also nodding) but also thinking he wishes he didn't say that lol. I can't help think he really was being honest about his perspective but it came off a little hateful. Minus the race thing though he was describing a unlikable main character. Some movies make that work and sometimes it rubs the viewer the wrong way. I mean this is supposed to be a landmark movie for gay people so when you see the poster boy mirrors alot of the more vapid parts of your culture and the cast is diverse to the point of cringe I can understand the disappointment.

They could make a comedy of the struggling board trying to make an LGBT museum that makes justice to the community to talk about unity within the community with the ride of gay trauma. They could make a romcom between a man who has fought against everyone to allow himself to be the way he is who falls in love with someone who is trying to be as masculine as possible and that generates the main conflict and the climax can be the family dinner and at the end it educates on being yourself and respect others and the main lead can finish his rightful romcom screenplay based on his story. We could make a satire criticizing the need to stereotype everyone in the dating scene or be a heartfelt comedy on educating the straight best friend on diverse families. Instead Bros is like mushing all the playdoh colors into one gray blob, mashing the pitch of 5 good movies into one bad one.

Billy Eichner really needs a hug because I think the LGBT community is a substitute for family and validation for him (like he can’t exist without them).

Im glad I searched for a review and came across this- I finally watched the movie and felt uncomfortable the whole time. Of course I worried I was being too close minded since my dad mentioned some things to backfire my in time comments when I had to pause to gather my thoughts- he's an ally and I'm queer... He seemed to think this movie was good when I just... Didn't care about what happened to the characters until over an hour in. I was also bummed seeing Kristin Chenoweth appear but not feel like she really showed who she was in what little a role she had. I understand that sometimes you need characters to be unlikable in order for them to develop through the run time... But I felt this main character was just angry for the sake of being angry and I realistically would have just checked out early on rather than deal with his issues- I wanted to love this movie, so bad, with how fun the trailers made it... But even an entire day later, and I still feel uncomfortable. I couldn't even laugh at it to calm my nerves- I guess it's not my type of comedy and it didn't land well delivery wise. I hope that this is a step in the right direction in us getting more queer movies... I also hope that I'll like those in the future.

I respect this review so much, and y'all are so open to have different opinion...I love it. This film seriously jumped the shark early, the supporting cast didn't really have much to do, besides fall into their own represented tropes. Billy Eichner may be "funny" but he's cannot lead a film (atleast not yet), not to mention his character didn't grow on me at all. It was as they were trying to take this movie seriously but at the same time try to be a satire, which failed. Was there some laughs sure, but it didn't break the mold of Rom Coms, or cinema for that matter. Plus why the hell are they releasing this in October?? Seriously a missed opportunity....i'm actually excited for Spoiler Alert that comes out in December, with Jim parsons and Sally Field.
