Is The A90 Toyota Supra The Modern Nissan Nismo 370Z?

Personally I still think the 370z looks are better with a more timeless design with a wider stance and it just looks cleaner to me. The supra design has too many vents and the proportions don't look as good. Kind of like the civic type r where they have just glued stuff on (overstyled) to make it look racier. Can't comment on the drive of the supra but a 370z with a good exhaust intake sounds awesome even in its naturally aspirated form, don't forget you are comparing a non turbo Z to a Turbo Supra, with a decent turbo kit on the Z it becomes a different animal. Looking forward to the 400z :)

Today (and like the old times) , Toyota can't compete with Nissan racing heritage, the Z as a sport car is way better machine than the FRS, not to mention a GTR will destroy a supra, Lexus or whatever toyota do. It's funny how they compare a Supra with a Z when they are both in different level (and what is crazy is that actually the 10 year old Z might be a faster car in the track than the supra).

I never thought I'd say this but.....The Z looks better than the Supra. The supra is more modern and looks better at the rear but the front of the Supra specifically the headlights, they look out of place.

I own a 370Z. Have the Stillen Exhaust and Intakes. Sound great! He says it is jerky ..Twin disk Clutch? That is on the Automatic. The stick is Hi perf Conventional Clutch with Rev Match. Also if you do not shut off the VDC (Traction Control) it is jerky because it intrudes keep it from spinning the tires. Especially in stop light starts. Turn it off smooths it considerably. The Z is loud inside from the Hatch area but a lot of it is the tires howling they come with. I put in some Home Depot like Hush Mat in the rear area. With Conti DWS's and this 70% quieter. Cheap fix and needed tires anyway.

The automatic doesnt have a clutch lol. he clutch chatter you'll hear in the 370Z manual is apparent. Fun car for sure and has a lot of character

Very true, more HP isn't everything. But the Supra is so much better in the turns and under braking. The agility with this decade newer design is awesome! And the power to get out of the turns keeps you on your feet. Nissan is close to unveiling the new Z, that'll be awesome!

Under rated? Its faster than the Z4. In the 90 the Supra's rival was the 300ZX. So it makes since that the Supras competitor is the 370z. It's not under powered. Its where it needs to be.

I personally think the Z is timeless and will go down in the books and the fact that it’s lasted this long is a testament to that. Best bang for the buck . Also if it was developed with today’s technology like the Supra it wouldn’t even be a competition on which would be better . The new 400z will really put a dent on the Toyota Supra just wait on it. If I could afford it I would buy the Supra over the 370Z for all of the reasons you stated. If you live in an area where most of the roads are level a manual transmission is great but if you live in an area like I do where almost every street and stoplight is on a steep hill I will take the automatic over the manual without question. Excellent video!

I think supra should be competing with GTR not Z. If u look back, 2JZ was built to compete with RB26. .. but now its not even close to GTR. I think it should be around 120k USD competing with NSX and GTR. Thats what supra should be doing. They should re-name this celica. When the new Z comes out with twin turbo V6, supra gonna have a hard time keeping the "Supra" name.

Yeah i miss it a bit. Love the DCT in the GTR tho. Car is way too fast to have a manual. Couldn't not keep up with the engine shifting myself. Supra would have been more fun if it had a manual to be honest. This wont be a super long term car for me tho. Would love another Z in someway!

Actually that's not true, if you look up 370's today, they are very close to original price, they hold value incredibly well! The Supra actually lost about $10k after six months of owning it. The market has changed since then, but the Z's stay expensive unlike the BMW's. Also Toyota's in general hold their value well!

Obviously. I sold this Supra after 2 years and just bought a manual Supra. BMW and Toyota built the car jointly and both had the same amount of input in the car. One of the best cars money car buy! I canceled my new Z order and bought the manual Supra. Z is just too much $ for a 370z with a new engine. Supra has that M car pereormcane and refinement with Toyota reliability.

The 350Z and 370Z have a cheap steel crank that can't handle over 500hp. I own a 95 Z32 Twin turbo, and never considered the 350Z or 370Z a Z car. Renalt screwed up Nissan and the Z. Even the 80s Z31 has a forged crank. The VQ engines are not worth over $5,000 brand new like a cheap 350 crate motor. You got to rebuild the whole engines (350Z,370Z, 350 Chevy) crank, rods, pistons and all. Whic means the 350Z and 370Z engines are junk. Id rather own a1984 Z31 turbo than a 370Z. And Nissan has the inline 6 in the Dstsun 240Z before Toyota had a Celica Supra in Japan. JDM 240Z came out first with a inline 6, and a turbo, and made 2.8L turbo in early 80s, and Toyota didn't catch up with a 3.0L turbo till late 80s. So again Nissan did it first. Nissan could of put the Skyline engine in the Z32 and had a inline Z. The only thing I really hate about the MK5 Supra is the engine is mounted in reverse and has to be removed to do a timing job. You won't change a MK5 timing belt in 6-8 hours.

You dont even know what youre talking about lmao.... there are alot of builds with the 350/370z making over 1000whp, its common in some popular shops. the 370zs engine and tranny can handle up to 800hp on stock internals. Lots of 700whp 370z's runing around on around 13psi

370Z literally has one of the most unpleasant engines ever made and that’s what ruins the car. Its thrashy sound and harsh vibration at high revs is like finger nails on a chalkboard. Also the manual shifter is balky and it’s not a great looking car, not saying the Supra is the greatest looking thing ever but it has way more road presence and appears lower in person

I'd say buy a nice used 2015+ Nismo Z now. They aren't depreciating. 2 years later I could have sold mine for the same price I got for it when I traded it for the GTR. So do that now, and then in 1-2 years if you want to upgrade trade for a used Supra, or the new Z
