Error Code 0B, 0E on the Brother DCP -1510/dcp-l 2540 dw
The error code 0B and 0E are not very common errors in these Brother machines. The main thing I would check is that the machine is plugged straight into a wall outlet. Unplug everything including the power, phone, and communication cable. Let the machine sit unplugged for 30 to 60 minutes. Again make sure it’s plugged into a wall outlet and make sure it’s properly grounded. Plug it back in and see if it goes to a ready state. If it does plug the other cables back in one at a time and test them out before plugging in the next cable.

These errors do not usually occur in the normal use. The conceivable causes are noise around the installation site, fluctuation of the power supply voltage, and failures in the software.

• Turn OFF the power switch, and turn it ON again after a while.
Step Cause Remedy
1 Main PCB failure Replace the main PCB ASSY.
Now before you change out the main board you might try to get the machine in Maintenance Mode by using the instructions below and try a few of the machine reset features. Now you might have to do the 2,8,6,4 procedure if the machine doesn’t come out to a ready state.
Press the Menu button and then the Start button while the machine is in the ready state. Next, press the up button four times to enter the maintenance mode. Or you could try pressing Menu *, 2, 8, 6, 4 buttons in that order quickly without paying attention to the control panel. If you can get into Maintenance Mode then try press 9,9 or 0,1 or, 9,1.
All those features are machine reset features. 9,9 usually clears fuser errors, 9,1 reset some internal user settings, and 0,1 resets everything back to factory default so if you accidentally changed a software switch this might help as a last resort. Just remember with the exception of the 9,9 reset they clear settings so if possible print off user settings and speed dial before attempting.
