It's been over a decade since I last bought a printer, and that was a used one. Now it's knackered I'm looking for a new one, and this one topped my interest... honestly, there are so many! This review really gives me so much more than a list of just standard specs', and it's a lot more in my league of tech' savvy, KISS approach. Okay, love it, cheers, much appreciated, a good review without jargon or complicated tech stuff. Good one, I like it a lot.

i think it is still very costly even though it is supposed to be high yield. The price per toner is $62 with only 1.8k yield compare to ink tank printers with cassette with only $6.2 per ink bottle and has 6.5k yield. I have a printing business so i really am using it to its maximum monthly printing recommendation.

I only tested up to 165gsm. Best check with Brother to be sure.

This model does not have a scanning bed. You would need one of their multifunction printers.

why do printers nowdays have so low yield count? i have a epson aculaser c4200 and black is 10000 pages and color are 8000 pages. and now you say 3000 and 1800? this is really low. what would be a laser color printer for the brochures printing and flyers? i have a hp inkjet cp1700 but i'm interested in a laser for this jobs. it must have a duplex. thanks!

I think that certain printers with a much higher black yield, than colours, and are for those that print mainly black and white with a bit of colour every now and then.

These are lower yield starter cartridges, the standard and higher yield are very good.

I just bought this and I'm have a lot of problems with paper jams. I cannot get through a 24 page duplex print job without it jamming. The few pages that do print look good.

So what about printing board/card games? Most game PDF files are anywhere from 10 mb to 300+mb depending on how heavy the game is. Some games are a few pages while others are 50+ pages which includes sections of the games board, it’s tokens, and cards. You stated that the printer is document printer, is there a different printer you’d recommend to handle board/card game printing (Print and play). The files are not set up for manufacture printing just at home printing for ppl who want to craft their version of a game that publishers release.

For board printing you would need an inkjet with a straight feed path.

Geekanoids I have a giant bizhub c450 I got for free, but the maintenance is too expensive. It handled the games perfectly, it again it too expensive. Any specific inkjet in mind. I had a small inkjet printer, but the ink was gone within a few pages. I figured toner as it handles large print runs.

No. Only cyan, magenta, yellow and black.

The resolution on this Brother printer is only 600 x 600 dpi that's why I returned it as the quality simply wasn't as good as my Xerox.

I have two Brother mono laser printers, one is about 5 years old, the other about 8 years old. Just starting to see some strangeness from the oldest which might be a bad cable or cable port. Quality and dependability has been excellent on both units. Would not hesitate to get another in the future.

Of the bat : I prefer that the HP has a solid touch screen without manual buttons ! The HP however only has a print resolution of 600 * 600 dpi ! The HP seems very proficient at duplex scanning and also has a flatbed scanner as an extra scanning option . The HP has a 50 sheet scanning and copying feeding bed ! The HP is really smooth in its operation and seems to be a real small business workhorse ! It has all the wifi and nfc and online management and usage capability , so it can be managed and utilised from anywhere on earth when one is on the move ... How would this brother model compare to the HP ? And how would this Brother compare to HP's print quality and as attached to HP's superior " Jet intelligence technology ? " The HP is good for around 26 pages per minute , but it seems very smooth and solid ! # # # I would appreciate your efforts , thank you .

I will try and get the HP in to review, but don't hold out too much hope of getting one. I would choose the Brother (or another model from their range) as their customer service is great, reliability and very fair running costs.
