I can't believe that actually worked. Mine is a Brother DCP-L3510CDW which wouldn't turn on. Unplugged, removed paper tray, held power button while plugging back in. Voila! I only turned it off as I was following a Brother troubleshooting guide in the first place! Thank you so much!

Thank you! I had to try it a few times. After a Google search, I kept the printer unplugged for about 90 seconds. Then, held the power button for 15 seconds before plugging it back in, and continued to hold the power button after plugging back in. Bam! Success! This last time, the printer turned on in just a few seconds.

Wow. I was going to throw my printer out because they're not expensive enough to warrant a repair. This worked the second time i tried it. The first time was my error- I forgot to remove the paper tray which evidently is an essential part of the process. Much appreciate the quick, easy fix.

2024 update: still works. I unplugged for a full minute. But I also opened all doors and opened the scanner lid. Then i held down the front power button for 20 seconds then plugged it in. I don't know why this works but Brother must be making tons of money needlessly servicing perfectly good printers! They have been a good brand for us over they years (ymmv)

Hello, I want to thank you for your comment. My printer is completely different from the the one shown here, but when I did what you said, lift the scanner lid and opened the other doors and unplugged and held the button down, (lo and behold there was light) the printer came on. Hallelujah!!!.

Average Me, TY so much! I had a weird error on my trusted Brother MFC-2700DW yesterday after I was trying to print on the back side of a printed sheet and mistakenly removed the paper after the machine had flipped it and seemed to have paused! It then complained of a paper jam which I knew was not true. When I tried to power recycle the machine, it refused to come on!! Luckily I also have a Brother color printer which I ended up using.
