I'm using these on a 10" deadcat frame w/a 60A 4in1 ESC but it's acting really strange for me just getting off the ground. Do you have any tips for me as far as BLheil_32 or BetaFlight setup? So far I just configured everything like a normal 5" setup w/ motor rotation reversed. The only thing I've changed is lowering the idle speed to about 3-3.5 because the 10" props on 6s wanted to pick it up off the ground at idle.

Atakan Erdal it is a bit unusual question. Of course you can. Question is if 10“ or at least 9“ props still fit. I would not use the motor on any prop smaller. Just dead weight and it might flattem out your props

@@caseyvick7333 i tried some 900kv 2812 motors on my 10in and it was hovering at 15% throttle with an AUW of 1350g with 1800mah 6s and the hero 7. It was a bitch to try and tune. It would hit 60mph at 50%throttle and was just too over powered for the tune I tried to put into it. Motors and battery came down hot. Went to the 3115 640kv version of this motor and the tune settled in instantly. Loving the way it is flying on 6s with 10in props. I did some paper calcs, I would probably throw 6s on a 9 inch (I dont know if it works on the stand, surely does in the air but we know the stand is much more challenging). But I think the future of these bad boys is 8s with one of the lower KVs, as a great way to recycle our old-ish 4s batteries putting them in series :) We just need some cheaper 8s esc. i think airbot/holybro metal fet esc can take 8s. The fets can do for sure, the on-board voltage regulator is the problem.
@EngineerX5 жыл бұрын
You're very right. The motor was barely stressed nd it was my fear of cooking ESC or/and thruststand electronics that kept me from running 6S but after reviewing data I think they should be able to handle it. So I'll see about doing some 6S runs. Definitely Yes! 8S is the next big step for motors like these. The higher voltage should really wake up their performance. ESC manufacturers have to start working on reliable and affordable 8S ESCs. Using 4S packs in series would be brilliant. We got plenty of those.

@@EngineerX i was teying some of the Strix 65amp 6-8s ESCs for 16 bucks but I have had some QC issues with them. Like one ESC blew up while flying a 10in 640kv build on 6s and put my quad in the ground at 40mph. Moving to Iflight 8s rated ESCs. If those dont work out going to the Aussie ESCs. Gonna cruise on 10-12inch props with 640kv and 12000mah 6s4p LithiumIom. Then will swap to 10in triblades and 8s for ripping.

@@EngineerX i have hit 12 minutes on 10inch props just getting to the 3.6v mark on the big 6s4p. That is the heavy build. The limits for these motors is much higher, try a 6s with 9 inch prop. I use this motor on a mini talon with a master airscrew 9x6. 100% power for 30 seconds no problem.
@EngineerX5 жыл бұрын
You're 100% correct. I chickened out at 5S. I was standing a good 5meters away just in case something came out flying. But yeah, you can see the motor is not stressed at all. It was barely warm to the touch. I may have to see if I do a couple of 6S runs with 8 to 10" props
@frasersteen5 жыл бұрын
What really surprises me about these bigger motors is how little thrust they make. Sure they are decently more efficient, especially at lower thrust levels but given its weighs significantly more than double what a miniquad motor would it's only delivering ~40-60% more thrust with several times the prop area.
@EngineerX5 жыл бұрын
Yes that's noticeable. I thank they do have more power on tap but I sort of got to my test set up/chicken out limits. The motor was barely warm after each run so for sure it wasn't being stressed much. I was afraid going to 6S that it was going to draw too much power for the thrust stand to handle. I may have to do a take-2 and do some 6S runs with 8 to 10". Should approach 4kg probably.

I have seen you going up to 70-80 amps with your thrust stand. Couldn't you do additional 6S 10" tests? That would be awesome. :-) Like with the Graupner & HQ 10x5x3 and aeronaut 10x7x2. That is what we use. I personally would love to see the MAS 10x7x3 (it needs a low profile nut and barely makes it).
@EngineerX5 жыл бұрын
Yes . It can do 70A short bursts. When i ran tests I thought it was going to be higher Amps so I stopped at 5S. 10x5x3 at 6S would most likely exceed my comfort zone. Static thrust really overstresses motor /ESC/ power supply so I wouldn't want to risk going that high.

hello I wanted to ask you for advice on this motor but the 3115 1520kv what do you think propeller 7050 8s esc 80a can go
@EngineerX3 жыл бұрын
Sorry I didn't have the capability to test at higher than 6S voltage. However, only guess/estimate - this motor should be OK with 7050 prop at 8S. It shouldn't be much stressed. Of course, always check motor temperatures right after a fast run, make sure magnets don't exceed operating temperatures as they begin to deteriorate and you loose power little by little - that's the theory. It will probably make close to 2.5 or even 3.0kg of static thrust at max throttle, but not sure for how long you can sustain it. Batteries get voltage sag and as motor warms up also there's a decrease in power.

Hello . I know you are the best on what you r doing and i would like to know how many amps one xwing 2208 1800kv on 4s with a hq 7x4,5 v1s can draw .... it’s for a plane . Do you have any idea 😅.....
@EngineerX5 жыл бұрын
For single motor operation with a very good battery pack that motor-prop combo can pull 30 to 35A sustained. I would be cautious with motor temperature and check if running too hot. That 3blade 7" prop could pull enough Amps to heat saturate motor if run at high throttle for long. That also depends on how much weight and how much drag it'll have to handle. That's my best guess. Just check motor temps to make sure.

Propeller? I have not tested 640kv so I can't give safe suggestion. My best guess would be 12" should be OK. Also 11" prop 1145 is safe because I have used them with a smaller motor about same kv on 6s.
