This hits really close to home because my older brother and I have NEVER gotten along. And even if we did anything together, it was forced because my mom was sick and tired of us not getting along. He felt like I was our mom's favorite because he thought I was getting everything, which wasn't true. I was just appreciating the things that our mom had and is still doing for us because I'm a good person. All he did was neglect both my mom and I for some reason, it might have to do with our deadbeat dad never there. My mom made sure that we both had everything we needed and then some. My mom has done her best to take care of me and my brother alone and she's never asked for anything in return, except a little appreciation. Now that we're all grown, he's gotten worse with how he treats me and my Mom. I just pray that he gets better with his attitude soon.

I feel you, my parents loved and raised us all equally. My older brother decided to move out at a younger age, so my middle brother and myself decided to stay with our parents. Now, we both live with our mom in a big house w/ his family and Im the one taking care of our mom since my dad passed away. My older brother always felt jealous of me since I was the baby one and the one that got my parents look after and the one that kept defending from my brothers since they bugged me a lot. My parents loved us equally unfortunately my older brother doesn’t see it. He doesn’t do anything for my mom.

All the people in the comments talking about their rough lives with a rough family relationship but it makes me feel really grateful about my family always getting along. I mean it, not just my parents and siblings, I also include my mom's side's grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, ect. After our grandpa on my mom's side died I met even more of my family members who were all very close with eachother. Im not saying my dad's side doesnt get along, but I simply barely interact with them, mostly because my dad isnt able to see any of them for irrelevant reasons. My grandpa on my dad's side is also dead, died when my dad was 14. It's been a REALLY long time since my dad saw his side of the family, and my grandma on my dads side is getting really old, and recently was hospitalized. I just want my dad to see his family again, especially his mom, one last time. My mom's side of the family is pretty stable, maybe when my grandpa died from cancer less than a year ago.

“Show don’t tell” is the best criticism I can give. The fact that you explained how the son was arrested and the dad was sad about it, it simply doesn’t have the same emotional tone that the scene could’ve had if you actually showed all of it happening. This was a big moment in the story. It shows how the main character was unwilling to change despite his father’s disappointment. It’s like if you narrated the dad falling, the scene wouldn’t have a big impact. Good luck dhar mann
