Love this song … so trippy heheeh Robby Krieger shines in this one with his slide guitar .. and Jim's scream ..best screamer in rock

First time listening to The Doors, eh? Interesting choice of song. You could start back at the beginning with "Break On Through (To the Other Side)" or "Light My Fire" or jump to the end with "L.A. Woman" and "Riders on the Storm" or bounce around in between with "Soul Kitchen," "Five to One," "Alabama Song (Whisky Bar)," "The End," "People Are Strange," "Love Her Madly," "Hello, I Love You," or so many others in no particular order.

The Doors was a truly phenomenal band that literally were doing things most bands weren’t doing back in the 60’s! Each one of the musicians have classical music training! Ray Manzarek was a classically trained pianist and turned to the organ when they created the band! Robby Krieger was also a classically trained guitarist but turned to rock as well after forming the band! John Densmore was a classically trained jazz drummer! And last but not least the legend himself, may he Rest In Peace Jim Morrison! He is the only one in the band who never had an formal musical training at all! The four came together as classmates at UCLA in the early to mid 60’s! Jim was an art student and was into film making, poetry, and philosophy! The majority of the lyrics were written by Jim himself and the band composed the music to fit the lyrics! Their sound is considered to be a little bit rock, but mostly, jazz, rhythm, and blues! They were very ahead of their time and will always be at the top of my list of favorite bands ever!

This song is what's called a "Deep Cut" because back in the day, musicians would make vinyl albums and the grooves would be cut into the master. They might say, "we just cut a new album." Since this was not on their top list, you would hear it only by listening to the deeper tracks on the album, hence "Deep Cut". I personally have never heard this song, but I love the music of the Doors.

Do more Doors! Here's a list of some of their best - "Strange Days" "Peace Frog" "Take It As It Comes" "People Are Strange" Ship Of Fools" "The Wasp" "Who Scared You" "Break On Through" "Five To One" "When The Music's Over" "Shaman's Blues" "The Spy" "Strange Days" and of course "Light My Fire" Morrison actually scared 'square' society back in the day.

I like the album (same name) and this song, but you have to listen to "Road House Blues". Great bluesy harmonica on that one. They also have a live video where Jim was tripping and was distracted by a caterpillar on stage and he started singing an ode to it. I also like "Universal Soldier" where they have a gun shot sound and Jim falls to the ground (that was on this video).

Ahhh! The Doors! Read about this group. Their story is pretty cool. Jim Morrison, songwriter (poet, in my eyes), singer, and iconic figure. He aquired quite the appetite for alcohol and hard drugs. He passed from heart failure in Paris in 1971. He was only 27. *Cool fact: they didn't have a bass player. My suggestion: "Strange Days" (1967) *best with headphones Merry Christmas! 🎄🌟

It's worthy of noting that The Doors were NOT like any other psychedelic or "hippie" band of the era. Jim was profound and the band, Ray, John and Robby really believed in their art. It was a time where a lot of youth were absolutely out of their minds on psychedelic drugs. It's why a lot of their songs kind of go on and on.. they didn't create music just for their airwaves. 10 minute songs didn't get airtime.. They were the first band to utalize the recording industry and making albums to create music that helped guide these kids on their drug trips. And putting on a Doors album and listening to it in its entirety helped guide people.. He considered himself a modern shaman and is remembered as that to those who really delve into his poetry and their music. Imagine a concert with them playing.. thousands of kids high of their asses listening to this man speak truths to them. "How many people know you're alive?" He wasn't there to entertain, he was there to help them wake up.
