@@MrFlankSinatradespite the game’s shortcomings with it’s original build it had some cool features not used in other games. This is one of the few games where the FPS camera was attatched to a 3rd person body model including the weapons.

I think they were running it all on a PC and as they got further making the game they had to scale it back to work for the consoles. I remember they had a demo that looked graphically amazing for 2006 and it had prone which got cut eventually. It's a shame, I'd love to see a new game on the PC and new consoles.

The first time I watched this revuew was just before the game came out. I remember I was so hyped, then when I got it on PS3, I remember'd thinking this game looked nothink like the revuew. I did learn to really enjoy it but I would love this game to get remasterd in unreal engine 4.

While the game was amazing, it's definitely not what they showed here! Also, wasn't a "proper" sequel confirmed to be in the works YEARS ago now? I remember an IGN video on it... Just give us the damn sequel already!

Randy gave us a dumb downed verson of this game the first 2 previews of this game looked unreal they made it seem like it was kinda open world and gave you choices amd im the preview you could see heartsocks squad doing yhere mission you could blow buildings up and use the rubble as cover

At the start where his men are chilling in that road and when he goes thorugh the right side gate you literally can not do in the game same as going prone this demo version is 1000x better than the released version smh....

HH changed a lot from 2006 to 2007. The version from '06 looks so much better in terms of gameplay. No 3rd person cover trash. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2qbeGZjZsmpbLs It's what Hells Highway eventually revolved around and it sucked.

If it was PC only you might have gotten this version. I like Hell's Highway, and I was a console only player back then, I was satisfied with what was released.

@@natwolf687 I think the gaming culture of the time had a big impact on the game. The PC version is clearly just a console version, you even have to manually bind your controls because it defaults to an xBox controller. That was a weird era in gaming though where some journalist hyped up the idea that consoles had won the technology war and PC would never be able to catch up. Of course it wasn't true, but it did mean a bunch of devs basically only made the console version and the PC version is obviously just a console game, the way the options menus have basically no options, it's all 'streamlined', graphics aren't as good as they really should be, etc

I remember this, what a joke of a demo. When the game released it looked absolutely nothing like this. Gearbox and Randy were a complete joke after this. Never bought any of their games.

I’ve seen stuff about them having to scale a lot back for consoles. While admittedly I know nothing about game development, playing the original 2 on the first Xbox and then seeing how neutered HH felt on the 360 in comparison in every way besides visuals just never felt right. Lot of lost potential here, in both HH and the series itself afterward

It's a shame they totally ruined the game before release, and this gameplay demo was already a huge disappointed compared to the earlier demo. The difference between even this demo and the actual finished game was the most disappointing thing in videogames until Kerbal Space Program 2. The early demos though were something else, no third person, huge open battlefields with multiple approaches, enemy who actually knew how to fight...
