As an an veteran, I just cannot give as many likes as this song deserves. Every time I hear it I fell like crying for all my fallen brothers in arms, regardless on what side they were.

I’m a 55 year old Canadian. I have loved this song for a lot of years. I think it is the best song for our Remembrance Day, and any other day that commemorates our brave soldiers. We would not have the life and freedoms that we enjoy without those who fought for it. Many gave the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you all so much, both past and present for what you have given us. We take it for granted. So sad. God bless you all.

Such an emotional song this one. Especially the '88 Mandela tribute version. That one always gives me chills... Knopfler is criminally underrated when talked about the best guitarists and song writers of all time. Sure his songs may not be 'the most demanding shredding' but they accost. They are forevergreen and will always be remembered. When you listen to songs like this there's a warm feeling inside you, in your soul. Memories of old things, happy and sad.

Agree 100% - I really like the different approach MK has taken to this great piece of music. His music has always been crafted to suit his unique (and in my view amazing) playing and vocal skills, and I just see him adapting to his new strengths and weaknesses. I would love to see him perform live again, but suspect he is unlikely to make it to Australia for that purpose.
