ughhhhhhhhhhhh this song!!!! I can't get enough!!! Reminds me so much of my husband. He was into so much trouble because he didn't have anyone to care if he was good or bad. He tells me I saved him, his family tells me all the time I saved him. Even though all I did was love him and show him what love was. He remembers the old him but he hates thinking about it and how empty he felt back when. We have been married 6 years and have a 2 year old daughter and a house full of love. But it is always good to remember where you came from so you appreciate what you have.

I love this song. I can't tell if he's happy that he can't remember his old self or if he's sad that he can't remember his old self. That's what makes it intriguing to me. He's just a fundamentally different person in the context of this relationship. I just covered this album -- this was def one of my favorite tracks.

Grady Smith I think he’s grown use to the new feeling and don’t remember who he was. I can’t remember myself before certain people entered my life

Grady Smith I agree, it's intriguing. The lyrics are brilliant, because it doesn't lean one way or the other, and is so unique in a song.

Everytime i listen to it I get happy one moment and sad the next .... it is a very ambiguous song. I was listening to a interview on spotify and they said it was about Shane McAnally and how he couldn't remember what his life was like before meeting his husband. But i think i like the way that i can be sung as either a negative or positive feeling. I think that is what make the song even better.
@coinshuntingfishingandproj59106 жыл бұрын
I don't remember me either I feel what he's feeling not in the context of a relationship but who I am now compared to what I was last year and all of the years before I have changed a lot and I wish that I was still like my old self. A more responsible and thoughtful human being. And that's he says in the song as he's feeling like a ghost in this town is what I feel like here in Maine compared to what I was in New York I have completely changed as a person from who I was when I lived with my mother compared to who I am now living with my father

I've listened to this song a thousand times. I believe he is singing about his faith. The man found Jesus! In the music industry singing about Jesus is a tough sell. I'm totally in that he is singing about his past like all the rest of addicts do who have been saved. "Heard I was a fast one always was the last one waiting for the other shoe to fall" come on, right there black and white. He's telling us he was the first to dive into temptation. "Was I just another ghost in this town? Who was I when no one was around" he was not living right and would try to display his self as someone he knew he wasn't. They say when you vet saved you are born again, that means you have died. When I was 16 I predicted my death to be 32 years old, it's odd because, I didn't realize how right I was about that. I met my wife one year earlier and I was lost when she found me. I got saved or born again when I was 32 years old. See it how you will, I was right, I did die that year and was born again with the spirit!! I don't remember me before God, that dude is died I can't remember me because I look back and think, "who the hell is that guy". Amazing how God has that effect on you! Well written song to keep his faith in his music and to keep everyone guessing. Remember the song, "3 a.m." by matchbox twenty? It's a song about his mom's battle with cancer. Everyone thought it was a song about a girlfriend. Another brilliant way to disguise music. Also listen to "pushing up daisies" brothers osbourne. Another song about Christian value. You might think I'm crazy but I'm almost sure of Brothers Osbourne intentions on this song, being the raging alcoholics they were. Thanks if you read all the way through. Listen again with this in your heart, hopefully you'll see it too!! Thank you.

This song speaks to me, not just as a love song. I have short term memory loss and have black outs now and again where I don't remember things. Sometimes people tell me I do things I know I'd never do. I once was all there, my mind was my greatest asset and once I grew older Neurological shit started to show. It's like I don't know who I am at times and so I look back on old memories to ground myself or ask others about memories I'm not sure about. That's my little shared experience and how I came to love this song.
