Steve, I'm grateful for the warranted criticism and kind words as well. If anything, I hope my comfortability with my ignorance and novice level of experience comes across in my content. I'm very new to reading and have no shame in admitting that, which might explain why my library isn't stockpiled with female authors, but that's more of an accident rather than due to misogynistic intentions. Austen, Plath, and Arendt grace my shelves and I hope to add far more beyond that of course. I'll argue you with about IJ, but two copies is cause for pause and DFW readers often carry an air of pomposity so fair point there! Love your authenticity and content! I'll earnestly work to grow as a reader and thinker....and I promise I won't get a third copy of IJ

Wildly, he’s just talked about both Sylvia Plath and Jane Austen! I put those videos on my list to watch this evening.

I would like to hear your ideas about some hard books which you believe are both hard and worthwhile. Perhaps you could discuss why you think they are hard and what makes them wortwhile.

Wonderful video, I must admit I have a beautiful dictionary from the 1920's. I tend to use it when reading classics, it has those fabulous now rarely used words. I've just started to review the books I read, especially non-fiction, and I will definitely take the tip of paraphrasing.

reading a book with the expectation that you have to talk about it or write about it really does improve reading.

Oh dear. One of the best locations to film videos in my library has a copy of Infinite Jest in the background. I’m not willing to forgo alphabetical order by author to prevent this. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. I’m not sure I want to invest time in the watching the bros.

In glad you gave that kid a break. Honestly, I didn’t detect anything exceptional about the cadence or emphasis in his speech. And the ring was not THAT obnoxious. The soft focus in the background thing, I mean, it’s just a setting. You can learn the lighting tricks without much effort. He wants to be visually appealing. Nothing too sinful about that. And as for the actual information, I wonder… I’m going to go check. I bet he’s Canadian.

what kind of rings do brotubers wear and what's the significance? I didn't understand what you were saying or maybe the reference went over my head.

At first i was irritated by the "visible copy of Infinite Jest" remark, bit this guy is next level. He doesnt have A copy of Infinite Jest: he has one copy of IJ resting on a second copy of IJ.

How interesting that he broke the dudebro mold a bit. Since he mentioned Goodreads, I looked at his linked account. He has (gasp) read two books by women this year. Maybe he's taking a class and had no choice.

Love female authors! I promise it's due to a brevity of reading experience and from any ill intent. Let me know some of your favorite works from female authors and I'll get them added to my TBR

Hello Steve. I watched the guy’s video and I doubt that he reads the books that I do. I doubt that he has read romance books. I am not going to sit and read a romance book I’m enjoying with a dictionary. I’m also not going to write notes 📝 on the romance book I’m reading. I would rather watch Sara of The Bookish Knitter talk about books and her daily life.
