I thoroughly enjoyed this video. It's great that you don't edit out the missed fish and the broken rods. It lets us know that you really are one of us!! At 70 years old I've been fly fishing since I was about 10 and started out with a bamboo rod that was my great grandfathers. I hate to admit that I'm new to streamer fishing. I started about 2 years ago and your videos have really got me started in the right direction but breaking 60 year old habits is not easy. Keep up the great work.

I caught brown and marble trouts on 25 cm (10 inch flies) no problem! Also hardbaits same size produced giant trouts. You wanna catch something big on purpose? Throw big stuff and stick to this. It´s just a matter of time until a giant trout eat it. Great video! Luv streamer fishing!!

Kelly I understand you and Tim poured your hearts into the design of this rod… I know many folks that love them! Just thinking maybe your gear was damaged or mishandled during your travels to “the land of milk and honey”. It didn’t appear on camera that you did anything that a rod couldn’t handle. Thanks so much for all your wisdom and sharing it with your followers.

I’m curious to know if you tried the butt section of the first broken rod combined with the rest of the second broken rod. I have a “Frankenrod” 5wt. that is made up of the bottom two sections of an Echo rod and the top two sections of a TFO rod. It all goes together and comes apart like it was made that way. I take it backpacking because what’s the worst that can happen to it? It’s already broken.

its an Echo rod...did you expect it to break?
@ccsocal76811 ай бұрын
Has to be technique. The second rod was the Lodge's and not an Echo. The first was his personal Echo Streamer. He is whipping those rods on the down cast. But hey, he can afford to break them all day.

I think the first one he broke was his personal Echo Rod. The second and third Rod was the lodge’s. He tends to whip the rod going forward. Maybe Tim can give him a few lessons. Has to be super stressing the rods with his casting technique.

You can’t whip the rod when casting streamers🫣. You have to be gentle. A nice round gentle cast. A good Belgian Cast for Streamers is what you want. No whipping and stressing the rod on the motion forward. NO LION TAMING WHIPPING CASTS.

You do realize he's the guy who basically invested streamer fishing as we know it, right?
