I don't mix breeds. There are so many out there and I fly a tumbler variety from Iraq called Iraqi Basrawi. This breed is pretty new and they have several flying styles. Once I get mine all flying the same I will then breed my stock for the colors I want. I also have two genes I have to breed out. Which is easy since their both dominate, so its just a matter of not breeding them. Other birds can't hide it. I know a guy down here in the valley with red print PHF's, so if they have duns you get yellows from them.

So true, i have seen and heard alot of noob folks call the chocolates a dun color and its so annoying. Thanks for describing the true meaning of a dun and brown.

What is the result of dun with yellow
@ptlofts10 жыл бұрын
Hi. I have some Dun hens and cockbirds. I also have a Black cockbird from a Recessive Yellow cock x Black hen cross. Is it possible to get Yellows from that Black cockbird x Dun hen? Is the Dun a dilute factor? Thanks.
@ptlofts10 жыл бұрын
***** Got it. But the Black cock's(wich carries dilute from the Recessive yellow dad side) mom is Black. Would that work if I mate that black cock to one of my Ash Red hens or they have to be also Recessive Red hens? Thanks for the info. I know that I could find out by myself but having the info from people that tried it before gets the task easier.

how come you did not include blue ? thanks for your videos
@FlyingTipplers7 жыл бұрын
Because these two are often confused. Honestly my brothers corrected me before with them in the loft. These are his. What we should have included and I don't think we had one at the time is a khaki. To make it even more confusing: along with the dilute gene, Flights also have the pale gene which is essentially half dilute. This is what produces the golden yellows you often see in Show Flights. They aren't just good yellows. They are fully separate gene. And on that: pale blacks aren't good looking IMO. They look like bad blacks. They don't stand out like Duns do. On the Browns, Pale is okay I think but can be easily confused with brown since browns fade so easy in the sun. We don't have blues or ash reds so I don't know how those are. It's best on recessive reds.

Awesome. Thank you very much. Now one more question. I have many fancy breeds and am looking for a nice flight breed. What do you recommend ? I have a bunch of rollers I've recently been flying but they don't group up like on your videos. Every bird for himself. What needs to be done?
@terrywilliams374110 жыл бұрын
Have u tried flying them close to evening hours? They seem to stay tighter when they're ready to go in for the night. Or letting them out and not "chase", just letting them go up on their own?

Breed from Afghanistan and am trying to get the yellows and the reds out of my one pair. Kinda like saving an extinct species out of one pair. Any tips?
@FlyingTipplers7 жыл бұрын
Two years isn't too late to respond!? No tips needed though. 1 pair you either have it or you don't. It's a recessive gene so I don't know what your pair is to begin with. You can get reds out of two blacks (and all but everything). Along with yellows.

yeah your correct when you say, Many NY flyers just call them Duns,,, Light or dark Duns,,, Kaki dun, sliver dun,,, ETC ETC,,, Many mumblers, know about the Genetic terms and many simply don't care,,, Same go's when you hear NY Mumblers say Tipplets instead of Tipplers,,, Say Tipplers in a Brooklyn Petshop and they'll all turn around and say " Hey Who or what are you,,, some Fancy Fly Boy " LOL,,, but your Correct... ;)

Hey bro you said that the dilute gene is sex linked. I have a pair of red pigeons I bred and one baby is red the other is yellow. Would that make the dilute (yellow) a hen? And what happens if its a hen and I re breed it to the sire? The reason I ask is because I have only one pair of these birds, which are a very very rare
@bj200910009 жыл бұрын
***** Only 50% of the males bred will carry the dilute gene as both parents are non dilutes.
@FlyingTipplers9 жыл бұрын
bj20091000 For the original pair yes. He was asking about breeding the yellow hen back to it's het dilute father. So 50% of the cocks will be yellow and the latter 50 will all carry dilute. The hens from this mating will be 50/50 (red/yellow) as well but of course not carrying dilute as they cant.

***** Ahh yes sorry I thought it was just in reference to the 2 red birds.

Bottle nose Dolphin,,, where the top and bottom beck where the same size,,, Long like a "Dolphin",porpoise in shape,,, the English obtained these birds and created & breed them in the same Colors but with much smaller beaks,,, basically the Bronzy we see today... !
@pigeonmumbler11 жыл бұрын
O'yeah "The Bronzy" They where first breed in Germany & Holland, in the Family of "Dutch High Flyers Bottle nose Dolphin" ,,, they where and still to this time are called "Chimney Sweeps" an English Phrase! , I guess because of the Dark Black & brown Bronze color & pattern throughout the bird,,, I forget what the Germans & Dutch called them,,, But I know I have it some where in my Files,,, any Hoot,,, The Germans & Dutch version of the bird had a much longer beak "Bottle nose Dolphin"
