One thing I hate about shooting videos is the trend towards putting explosives in a target to see a big boom. Two reasons. 1st, it perpetuates the Hollywood myth of bullets blowing stuff up; 2nd, it takes away from seeing the actual effect of the weapon.

The way I see it, no matter how many guns you or we (the people) have, the government will always have more and better ones, not to mention tanks and planes and helicopters. If the government did become evil, I too would likely fight for survival but I do not believe that the people would ever be able to defeat the government in a war. If it ever did end in our favor it would be either through the help of another nation's military helping us or through political channels.

And the fact that when you're standing close to these rounds whipping by your head, they are zipping by faster than the speed of sound so they have quite the shock wave to them, so as they pass by you hear a loud concussive pow, or snap! So all the while you're trying to take cover you have bits of concrete shooting into your skin, you have loud concussive SNAPS cracking just a couple feet above your head, I'm sure it's something that your brain will never forget for a very long time. These are just 50 cal rounds, imagine artillery rounds or tank rounds going over your head making that loud snap as you realize you were a couple feet away from instant death. It's no wonder a lot of these men come back with PTSD, and that's not even discussing the 24/7 stress in some situations which quite literally damage your organs and change the physiology of your brain. The bodies, the loss of friends, the potential loss of limbs. We're animals, you subject any animal to that amount of stress and they won't come out of it fine and that includes humans. That's why we need to show support to try to heal that brain of theirs that was just subject to matter no man should ever see, it's the least we can do Great video! I love that no explosives were used as someone else said in another comment, we saw the raw power of what a 50 cal can do.

The trickiest part of taking this apart is the step where you slide off the back plate, there is a long spring/rod that can shoot out if it is dislodged, so you stand to the side just in case. Also you have to be careful placing that spring back in before sliding the back plate on. My armor unit in the army had M2 machine guns that were ex-US NAVY marked housings from Korean war surplus.

True, true, but . . . maybe he gets hazard pay. Seriously, this is a "closed range" being used for this vid. When 8:23 +/- is looked at closely, the cameraman is in a "shelter" of some kind and ,as with other (real) films, there are other safety measures being taken. Unless of course, these guys are completely stupid. Meh, who knows? But, you and dajvv are correct. On "open ranges" - military, LEO, private, wherever - the firing line would remain "clear" until the impact area (down range) is checked and secured. Seeing this guy is the type of gaff rookie videographers often make.

Did anyone notice the camera man downrange running from the exploding car at 8:23? It's incredibly unsafe and irresponsable to have someone downrange during live fire, let alone live fire with a .50 and god knows how many pounds of explosives in a car. Kinda upsetting that Larry Vickers chooses cool camera angles over firearms safety...
@tsilkiner19 жыл бұрын
+Will Egan , I totally agree that this was completely unsafe. How much did they pay the cameraman to stand down range. The camera man was very foolish to get a shot to satisfy Larry Vickers. A remote camera would have been sufficient. I was a fan of Mr. Vickers but after this stunt. Safety was the FIRST principle I was taught, Larry please RE READ the 10 Commandments of Gun Saftey

+Will Egan +1 => agree.

+Will Egan I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. In reality though he is standing off to the side, many degrees out of the line of fire. There's no reason why he would ever get shot unless he was standing directly in front of the weapon or if Larry pointed it at him. You're right that in principle it is very unsafe, but if you trust your shooter there is nothing to worry about standing downrange of a live weapon firing. Keep in mind that military tactics often involve machineguns shooting directly over the heads of friendly troops downrange. Also a lot of rifle tactics in fire and maneuver warfare involve shooters firing right past each other with only a few feet of space (one reason why formations are important in squad/ platoon level battle). This practice is not as uncommon as you may think and if both parties trust each other and are fairly competent, there is not much danger in reality.

@aperson49338 жыл бұрын
no. 5.56 is higher pressure because its used by the us army. Well to be exact the us army uses 5.56 AP or Extreme penetrater. If you shoot 5.56x45mm out of a 223 firearm it will blow up.
@lukegriebel8 жыл бұрын
+Mr pine cone no way it blows up..might break a case tho
@aperson49338 жыл бұрын
Mohammed Hersi no you are thinking oppositely. if you put a 5.56x45mm in a 223 rifle the gun will blow up. if you put a 223 in an M4 carbine or a 5.56x45mm rifle it will shoot fine. 5.56 is higher power then 223

I don't see the point of trying to make everything look so serious. It's just a middle-aged man having fun at the range with someone else's toy. Adding dramatic music and intense camera scenes doesn't really make it look any cooler. I'm all for having fun at the range, but this just made me cringe at how serious it tried to be.

There's this thing that you can do when you are "Triggered" by something you see, Sonny. Its called: CHANGE THE DAMNED CHANNEL! If something disturbs you (and clearly you seem to be "disturbed") then leave and go watch Barney the dinosaur or Sponge Bob Square Pants or the Flintstones on your TV. But try to understand that ADULTS are trying to watch this video and read the comments. If you are SO upset, find your Safe Space down in your Mommies basement and ask her to bring you down some more Hot Pockets and Tide Pods to munch on, umkay? Let the Adults do ADULT things. You go enjoy your Etch A Sketch or whatever, Junior. Some people's kids, I SWEAR! SMDH

Matthew De Meester I meant the s.a.w. as the machine gun. I'll admit I'm not a gun expert and not trying to sound like I know more then I do. But the one looked like that so I associated it. Lmao I'm assuming you know more then I did. I believe I meant the 30 cal but not sure. If you could mabey educate me on my error that would be greatly appreceated

Yes but I think that the trajectory that we saw was likely the gasses moving and not the actual projectile, or the bullet stabilizing as it left the barrel, "adapting" to those particular conditions but ultimately maintaining it's intended/aimed trajectory. I also think that this is no reason to consider this weapon inaccurate, inefficient, outdated, etc.. I think this because I watched it and it really looks like the slug is moving, but I can't figure a logical explanation for why it changed AFTER exiting the barrel. The escaping gasses will continue to exert energy on the slug past the muzzle, but with that I would imagine it'd be a gradual shift from 0m on, and the same for any atmospheric sources from where those are reached by the bullet...

Once we had a weapon that was much more effective than the .50 BMG - which still is an oversized rifle cartridge: it's the 20mm x 139 round used for the Hispano - Suiza twin AA gun (FlKan 20mm ZW) in use for the German Base Defence units till the late 1990s. I have found one in London, part of the inventory of the Imperial War Museum, made by Rheinmetall, still with the orginal plates (in German)!
