This was my first and favorite player growing up. He was a great player and I loved his game! When my Dad took me to my first game I watched Leroy Kelly run against the Green Bay Packers in the mud and I promptly went home and drew his number #44 on all of my t-shirts. Thanks Leroy!

'66 Packers' game? I was there, too. Eleven years old. Browns lost 21 -- 20 on a short 4th down flare pass t o Jim Taylor.

Same, #44 everywhere, he sent an autographed photo. Thank you for bringing the energy. Please know he is part of my life; gosh he looks great.

Leroy was my childhood favorite too. The first Browns backfield I remember is Leroy, Bo Scott, and Bill Nelson.

THE BROWNS MUST RETIRE THIS MANS #44 NOW!!!!. A travesty that any player is allowed to wear his number.

One of the best that is mentioned very little, if he wouldn't of followed Jim Brown he would be on the Mount Rushmore of running backs

The Incomparable Leroy Kelly. That was the title of an article on the front of a football magazine when I was a boy. My favorite player when I started watching football in 1967 or '68. Jim Brown had retired. I remembered seeing Jim Brown on TV and he seemed like Superman. So by the time I decided to follow football and be a Browns fan I asked my brother about Jim Brown and was told that he didn't play football anymore. So I asked, "who do the Browns have now?". He said "Leroy Kelly".

A class act! I had the opportunity to meet Leroy at a signing and talk some football. He signed a ball and a picture for me.

I don't think any athlete has had a tougher job than following Jim Brown as running back for the Browns. Kelly did a great job, and it was indeed a tribute to the offensive line, as Cleveland had a long line of great running backs, starting with Marion Motley in the 40's up through Mack and Ernie in the 80's.

Yes, Leroy Kelly definitely deserved to be in the HOF sooner than he was actually inducted. He was a great RB.

My first favorite Browns player. The 1968 season was the first one I really remember when I was 7 years old. The first of 5 different seasons where we were one game away from the Super Bowl.

growing up in central ohio, you wanted to be #44. And if you couldn't get that, you'd settle for #45. not too shabby.

Who needs Jim Brown when you have Leroy Kelly?

Jay Crawford and all the guys on the UCSS need to study Cleveland Browns history before they make ridiculous comments... "At the time, Jim Brown was firmly established as one of the best if not the best". Jim Brown was regarded as the BEST that ever played at that time. And guys like Frank Gifford, and players who played against Brown, and the great Bill Belichik still regard him as the best.

I would drop the name and have to say look it up. I was worried one day that he wasn't in the hall and thankfully he got in H.O.F.! It must have been hard finding a clean jersey because Leroy Kelly was a bruiser.

Dude I think they going 9-7 not offending baker but baker needs to look at his wr when it’s play action he needs to throw to people who is wide open like look against the cowboys Cleveland did a yankee play when Odell turned he had a open space to catch it but baker just threw it away

Recently I inadvertently offended HOF NFL player Kevin Mawae on Twitter, he let me know it, so did his groupies. To be honest I didn't know who Kevin Mawae is or was but I do know who Leroy Kelly, Jim Brown, Johnny Unitas and guys like that are though. HaHaHa!
