I grew up there. I LOVE IT! Best Education I ever had was the school system. I still have family there. I have lived in Pittsburgh PA for about 45 years now, I came here when I was 18. Thanks for sharing. I am surprised you did not go to NEMACOLIN CASTLE. I will share your video.

Sweet little town! Brownsville is located on US Route 40, also known as The National Road. It was the first "paved" route extending from Maryland and ending in Illinois. It was the first federally funded highway and opened up what was then the interior of the United States. There are still a number of buildings in Brownsville and the surrounding area that were built at the same time as the road.

Eerie, yet beautiful at the same time. I wonder what it would be like living in a place like that, as I imagine there are a handful of residents still left. Since the tax base is largely destroyed, I would imagine municipal services are "slim to none." Though it was interesting to note the fire department vehicle at the beginning.

There's an old abandoned hospital here called Brownsville General Hospital. I've been in it a few times back in college with friends. I doubt it's still standing now though. There was an old yellow brick building across the street from it that was also abandoned. Super cool.
