Sabaidee Terry. Yes, the BRT is utilized in many western countries. We have BRT in San Francisco. It would be nice if Vientiane one day have a street car transit system through out the city. ( Plenty of electricity there in Laos) The ever increasing vehicle and motorbike traffic on Vientiane street is overwhelming on the daily basis. Anyway, hopefully BRT and other mass transit system in the near future for Vientiane would relieve the congested traffic there. The transportation department should first focus on paving all the streets and country alley routes as well. There are so much dirt brought in from dirt roads sticking to the tires to the city paved streets. It creates airborne dust as the vehicles pass by. It takes time and money ( besides politics ) to build infrastructure. No need to re-invent the wheels. Learn and study the plan from those countries that have successfully built such a project like BRT or any other modern projects. Public hearing is important especially for this massive scale scope of work. Best of luck to Vientiane and her citizens. Thanks for sharing.
