Marley is a male. He is 5 yo . He has been trained on and off for a while. Just coming back after 2 years break. We start training early with pups,8-12 weeks old : do short tracks , building drive exercises and teese polls. play lots with tugs and balls. We do not put BRTs on a sleve till obedience is solid and we feel that they are ready. Our BRTS compete in several venues: obedience, shows, rally, carting/draft, Schitzhund is just another venue, another sport. Marley loves it..

Awesome!!!!! I just started Schutzhund with my 3 year old BRT Barkley....not easy. I am glad to see that BRTs are doing fine in this sport:))

why do they always seem to train the dogs to grab the arm while they have a club in the right hand which could cave their skull in. I would train them to go for the groin or throat as would be harder to protect

This video is training for IPO, international sport that has three phases: tracking, obedience and protection. It is NOT a Personal Protection. One can not use a tennis ball in a game of ping pong. Every game has rules that need to be followed. In a sport of IPO a dog must bite a sleeve. Hope it answers your questions.
