You wouldn't have been able to take the Evil seriously, because everyone who knows Ash would've been like "Pfft, he's got this." They were driving the hopelessness home with new characters. It has its flaws but It is a propper horror movie, and the main actress did an awesome job. I hope she does more horrors because she is very talented. The only one-liner came at the end of the movie with "eat this" and an epic ending scene. I think people expected more of that so they missed the fact its a great horror flick. The 6.6 on imdb is way too low. If it had a different name it would have been 7+. All my friends are fans of original series, none wanted to go to the cinema.

The remake is very forgetful, too gory, contains boring characters, and hardly any humour. Watch the demons in the original. They were teasing Ash. This made the original even more disturbing. The remake is basically gore and more gore. Nothing original. It's ok Bruce is saying how much better the remake is, and how much better the actors are. But for me the actors in the original were more convincing.

Oh i have watched all of the ED movies including AoD (that i thought was horrible). My 2 favorites were Evil Dead 1 and Evil Dead 2013. Not sure what movies you watched but Evil Dead 1 wasnt funny (it never tried to be) the only reason why it seemed that way was cause of the bad dialoge/acting and low budget effects. Still a great movie for its time dont get me wrong. Fede wanted to bring evil dead back to its roots which is why he went for the straight up gore and horror and boy did he deliver. 100% practical effects done beautifuly and the characters actually have a reason why they are at an isolated cabin in the woods instead of "yeah partyyyyyy" which was the case in ED1. In the 2013 the acting was far better without a doubt. Jane Levy (Mia) was SUPERB and better than anyone in the old movie just from the range of her character alone. (Drug addict , Pure Evil, Badass) each of them portraied beautifuly. Anyone who claims otherwise is simply wrong on this one, i cant tell you not to like the original movies but the acting was simply high school movie levels of horrible. (Besides Bruce Campbell in ED2 and AoD) So in conclusion, the remake was a success and for good reasons. I really hope we eventually get a sequel that continues the story of Mia and eventually a Mia and Ash team up would be epic.

Too bad Evil Dead (2013) was not good. Wonderful trailer. I really love the concept ( a girl battling addiction and this being a metaphor for withdrawal ). The 'look' is great. They forgot to add entertainment, rhythm, suspense, dread, character, smarts, etc. UPDATE: I love it now. Took four viewings though.

Bruce is DEAD WRONG on the impression the first movie made up against any of the sequels etc. What does he mean by "cheesy"?? NOTHING was cheesy on the original except maybe the clay animation! There is something about the (cabin, fog, woods, 70's feel, and the incantations....the music...demonic background sounds...and especially THE MAKE UP EFFECTS!!!)...."that when ALL pulled together, made THE SCARIEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!! It truly is a CLASSSIC that our family has cherished and handed down. I have a 23 yr old daughter that to this day all I have to do is say "JOIN US" and she freaks!! LOL LOL

The remake... disappointing me and my brother who loved the original... hell we loved all three of the Evil Dead ones... that had Ash in it. Then the payoff for this ultimate being is beaten rather easily and almost clumsily by a chainsaw... Also, the sister coming back to life with a car battery start? Also, the female lead... why should we have cared about her when her exposition was spoon feed to us? It didn't have the shock and horror the original had nor did it have the humor of the second one. To think there was a girl who even said this in an interview with the cast of AshvsEvildead... a girl asked if they would ever make a female lead for the Evil Dead series? Ted Ramini's response or was it Sam? Either way... they already tried that. That says something about the remake. It almost feels like the movies wanted us to drop Ash from the series... WHY!? He's iconic! Bruce Campbell may or may not dislike Ash but he should have seen that coming. Still love you Ash but the remake was... meh. All the other things evil dead with you Bruce in it? Awesome.
