Most Underrated Actor imo. He is and will allways be, the King of the B Movie, but he has so much more talents. Hail to Mr. Campbell

It was huge on home video. Everyone I knew in high school saw it. It's probably the most popular of the Evil Dead movies. If it had been a hit, Bruce probably would have become an A-lister. Sam tried to cast him in a few of his big films, but the studio refused. But he also talks a lot about the downsides of being an A-lister, and how being on the B-list is a lot less stressful.
@Will21st2 ай бұрын
@@squamish4244 honestly I think Bruce made the choice to be the king of his realm. What good are the megabucks if you have to become a phony to do it. bruce is not the ass kissing type, that's for sure. He did good but yes could have been an A lister no problem. he certainly has the chops and charisma to do so if he wanted to.
@squamish42442 ай бұрын
@@Will21st Yes, I think so too. The huge productions, many takes, hurry up and wait, the endless press tours - blech. I forget if it's in this interview where he says he actually feels sorry for RDJ. "Why would you feel sorry for him, Bruce? He's making $40 million a movie." "Because he's going to be stuck in that goddamn suit in a blue room for the next 15 years." And he was stuck in it for 11 years. And how less stressful television is. No time for endless takes, you keep things moving, so you've defeated the bad guys, kissed the girl and ridden off into the sunset all before lunch. And Bruce has had a CAREER. Evil Dead, Xena and Hercules - and he directed the last episode of Hercules - B-list movies galore, Ash vs. Evil Dead, an incredible Ronald Reagan impression in Fargo - the man has done a lot. Sorry if I'm repeating what you just saw, I just don't remember most of this interview.

A little anecdote from years gone by: My brother, sister and I went to the theater to watch Army of Darkness, fully trained by Evil Dead 2 on what to expect in humor. Unfortunately, it seemed like no one else in the theater was. We were the only full out laughing at every wise crack, three Stooge-ism and broad sight gag and maybe because it did feel awkward, it remains one of my fondest film going memories.

Lots of very funny people had healthy childhoods. I would even argue that crappy childhoods make people bitter and jaded a lot more than they make them funny, or it gives their humour a mean streak. Bruce's childhood was just fine, his parents supported his ambitions and were the first people to invest in The Evil Dead, and he's hilarious.

He's talking about talking to Larry Fine. Larry Fine died in 1975 4 years before they even shot the first Evil Dead. How did he talk to Larry Fine?
@c.t.h.60106 жыл бұрын
He and Sam Raimi were and still are huge Three Stooges fans. Apparently when he was young they called up Larry Fine and spoke with him on the phone at what he referred to as the "old actors home." There is an NPR interview where he mentions it.

Thats easy they used the Necronomicon to talk to Larry Fine

Bruce never explicitly said it happened in the 80s; he mentioned Scott Spiegel and his love for the Three Stooges before going into the story - Spiegel had been making short Super 8 films with Bruce and Sam Raimi since 1972, so the phone call story he's referring to most likely happened between then and 1975, when they were teenagers.

Opie's from Centerport, Long Island - a lot of people out there consider a home without individual bedrooms for each child "lower-class". Lots of old money and the mindset that comes with it out in Suffolk County.
