I have many B.C. albums, saw him live in '94. I admired him even though he went totally off the rails as a left wing activist. I still listen to his earlier stuff...he had a great voice, and was a pretty good guitar player. The fact that there are only 3 likes on this video tells me that his popularity here in the states has always been minimal. I live in the Dallas area...didn't even know he was playing here. He's old now, with a beard like Moses. I just don't have the same affection for him that I used to.

A fair assessment. "Nothing But a Burning Light" sealed the deal, for me, and is still a beautiful collection. He had some Canadian hits that certainly worked, but did any of us realize we were so young, dumb and full of communism? Bruce has earned his "Moses" years.

He may not have a large fan base but he has enough to make a living. The fans he does have are very loyal and truly love his music and poetry. Like most artists ahead of his time he won't be appreciated until he is gone.

@@geoffburton822 Sorry, I have never considered myself a communist. Voted for Ford and Reagan. Politics aside, I think it was the "Nothing But a Burning Light" tour I saw at Deep Elum Live, once again a very small venue. I will always have a very special place in my heart for Bruce. I first became aware of his music in '79 when I worked at a radio station in Lufkin, Texas..."Wondering Where the Lions Are" was semi-popular then, but the album it came from "Dancing in the Dragon's Jaws" really got through to me, and I followed him for many years afterward.

@@RVH-io3dr I wouldn't say that Bruce was "ahead of his time", I think Bruce rode the currents of the time, and made musical comments on the world as he saw it. He was actually a "Man for all Seasons". Starting as a Canadian folkie, then a folkie that woke up to the power of God and spirituality, then a folkie-turned rocker with serious awareness of the strife and conflict in this modern world, then a rocker with a political ax to grind. "If I had a rocket launcher, some son of a bitch would die!" Yes, Bruce went full-on anti-American policies in the eighties...and yet, somehow I always listened to him and held him close in my heart. I suppose I always will.

@@timwhite5647 Apologies. My comment reflected a time in the early '70's when it was very cool carry Mao's Little Red Book around and to wear Che t-shirts, and such. The "infiltration" started long ago. Regardless, I appreciate your comments about BC and his place in musical sun. btw, his autobio is an interesting read.
