"One of the first things I was ever told was 'don't become a mark for yourself.' That's kind of one of the cardinal rules. And that's pretty much what (Bret Hart) did. It's even more disconcerting that he grew up in the business and should have had a handle on it, you know? You're almost amazed that he seems to forget it was a work. Even the Montreal thing, you know. It was certainly not handled well by Vince (McMahon). Not very well orchestrated, but at the same time, it goes without saying that when the office tells you they want you to drop the strap, it's part of business.
