I can't listen to Pink Floyd because they reminds me of a bad time. But I missed them sometimes. This song doesn't hurt even though also contains the extremely sad story. This is a new experience for me, it's something about ability to get through hard times without getting depression. Thank you so much, Mr. Hornsby.

This is absolutely one of his best songs ever. Giving the old man a salute is our country and being a fortunate son is the shear bliss of returning home from war. There are many that never made it back as you can see if you visit Arlington National Cemetery. I had six Great Uncles in WWII. I will never forget a short conversation with my Uncle John. I asked him Uncle John are you going to see Saving Private Ryan? He said no Michael I’m not. You can see war and hear war, I smelt war it was my Brothers blood on the beach when we landed in Normandy. That conversation still brings me to tears it was one of the most moving conversations I ever had with anyone that served in WWII. Miss you Great Uncle John, Robert, Rollin, Francis, Thomas, Jack, and forever grateful to Amby that paid the ultimate sacrifice for our Nation. God Bless you all.

I appreciate Bruce Hornsby always following his muse, often far afield from his early hits, but he is such a supremely gifted pop music composer and performer that one only wishes he did much more in this vein throughout his career. Emotional and moving.

I was fortunate enough to see Bruce for the first time at the small club Karlsson in Stockholm back in 1986. Huey Lewis joined on stage for a couple of songs before returning to Konserhuset where he and the News played the same night. Bruce's music have brought nothing but sheer joy to me ever since. There are a few really great artists/musicians who really stand out as special and unique in this world and I would like to thank Bruce for a lifetime achievement of absolutely outstanding piano playing and brilliant composing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! / Ulf Lovéus

I wonder what the relation this song has to Comfortably Numb. Fortunate Son, Comfortably Numb, it rolls off the tongue the same. Even sounds like the melody is even similar... Either way, I love the transition.
