So THAT's how we play C64 in the future! LOVE IT! (and agreed with the lego comment. That was my first impression as well)

What the… how the… omfg ! Questions questions ! Is this realtime playing in augmented reality ? but then it goes true 3d when the background falls apart. Hmmm lots to think about, i need to have a lie down

A great tribute to a classic game, and the ending was very interesting. The overlay doesn't blend well with the background though. The shadows are much too sharp, and fall in a completely different direction. I think it will look a lot better if you try to match the lighting of the animation to the lighting of the surroundings.
@retrohead4 жыл бұрын
Good feedback. Problem is the shadows on the table are too subtle so I had to make it more drastic to be noticeable 🙄
@Wishbone19774 жыл бұрын
@@retrohead Well, I would argue that you shouldn't actually _want_ them to be noticeable. The thing is, the way our optical system works (human beings, that is) is that an awful lot of processing takes place on the things we see, to ensure that we focus on the "important" things. As such, things that are mostly unimportant (like shadows) do not grab our attention unless they look wrong somehow. It's not that we don't see them, it's just that we don't think about them, again unless they look wrong. As I see it, your goal for these AR videos should logically be to make them look as "realistic" as possible, meaning that it should look as if the actual game has a physical presence in the real world. To facilitate this illusion, the overlay needs to match the physical surroundings as closely as possible. There are three main elements to this illusion: the quality and direction of the lighting, the quality and direction of the shadows, and the quality and direction of the reflections. Working towards perfecting these is a thankless task however, because if you succeed, most people simply won't notice any of them. We all want our hard work to get noticed, but the unfortunate reality is that many things only get conscious attention if there is something wrong with them while going mostly unnoticed if they work as intended. C'est la vie ;-)
