Bruce was and is, and will always remain, the best I have ever seen. He would - in my honest opinion- have won more World Titles than Mauger. The proof of how good he was (and remained,) was when he broke the (then existing,) Landshut track record on a bog standard unturned 4 valve the night before the 1989 Munich World Final - 7 years after retiring he was STILL f***ing brilliant.

I think Bruce could have won more world championships but not that year in 1983 nobody was going to beat Egon Muller on the brand new GM motor , to quote Kenny Carter. “ he passed Ole Olsen as if his chain had come off “

If you had to be in the pits with this guy, you'd have a different opinion of him. Just sayin', there's two sides to this guy. One isn't so charming.

Well, I helped Andy Reid and Phil Collins in the pits 1982 and Bruce was a great lad.

@@jacksonirving4594 Can't blame a guy for being dead serious at a race meet. But the nice guys that would help you out were guys like Ronnie Preston, Jim Fishback, Bill Cody and a few others. No help or advice from the top guys, though.
