Two closest moments, as I recall, of ending the streak before it finally ended: Tombstone by HHH and that beautiful chokeslam reversal into an RKO. I thought Randy certainly has it there!

Yeah but what was the original plan for survivor series. Because randy lost a qualifying match to eddie, and eddie pass away and randy take his place. I am always curious what was the original plan? Was taker supposed to return even later..

Nate Amstutz Actually Orton didn’t lost to Eddie because Eddie beat Mr Kennedy by doing his classic chair spot and Kennedy hit him over the head with the chair afterwards. Randy Orton lost to Rey Mysterio allowing Rey to get in

No disrespect to Brock but I think orton would of been a better choice to end the streak maybe if he had a rematch he could of been the one to end it.He was young at 21 still and not ready but by 30 he was an established star

TakerKaneanite619 time , money , and history say else wise... The “WM Streak” was a Layup storyline for WWE and they got Batista all the way over @ 23, Edge main event @ 24, HBK/Taker 2X , HHH vs Taker 2X, CM punk , then putting Brock over more than he already was to the point he is now @ 2019 going into 2020? Yeah sure they have no real regrets about getting those 8 matches shit even Mark Henry who proves a worthy opponent looking back. It’s cool to fantasy book stuff , but ending the streak sooner rather than later is a tough one. Simply because of the weight the streak took on especially by WM 24 against Edge. If they end it at 21 they lose out on huge future opportunities to draw / make it legit while Taker is still looking bad ass.

Thinking back to 2005 Orton made me reflect on how much better they were at building stars then. By 2010 Randy was a credible top guy over as a real star. These days there's guys that make me stop and go "oh he's been here that long already?" because theres no real progress with their build and their gimmick essentially remains "sports entertainer trying to win and just happy to be in the WWE™"

I couldnt agree anymore. They're very inconsistent with building a talent. They give ppl a push then just stop and blame the wrestlers or fans for not getting "over" when in reality they just slack on putting ppl in programs ... these days it's just matches where everyone loses to anyone. Like what the hell happened to the Cesaro/Alister Black fued? They had two matches and that's it they start throwing Cesaro more losses in random matches like the gauntlet this past Monday.

When Randy Orton came out and challenged Undertaker for a Wrestlemania match, at first i thought he was absolutely crazy and way over his head to call out a true legend of that stature but once they got together for the contract signing which led to him slapping the deadman, my reaction was woah he's really got a death wish. I thought they had one of the best matches of the night and the chokeslam into the RKO really did come out of nowhere, it was the first real time that i thought the streak was actually going to end. The Undertaker Randy Orton feud was one of the best ones of 2005 and really helped put Randy back on the map as a true main event player.

I think Vince scooping up Bruce was a shot-across-the-bow at AEW. He is really sweating them. They definitely got his attention when Jericho showed up, but when Conrad was able to book the *Undertaker* for Starrcast Vince was like "Aww hell naw......" There is a good chance that AEW would have gone after Bruce if WWE did not.

Looking back Orton should've ended the streak
@Matt-cr4vv
@Matt-cr4vv Жыл бұрын
He could’ve been a good one for it but I’m not sure it would’ve been the move ar this specific time. This was really the first year that they advertised the streak as the atttaction of the March. So I’m not sure id have wanted to get rid of it right when I’d started marketing it. It could’ve been great at cementing Orton as a top star though. And if they had to end it this would’ve been a nice way to do it over how they did. The other aspect of why it probably wouldn’t have been the time to do it is because Randy wasn’t ready maturity wise to be in that role which they learned in his title run. There’s stories surrounding this about Randy missing the walk through before this for example. He wasn’t ready for that role and it’s responsibility. And this was the show where they chose to go with cena and barista anyways. In a different world where they weren’t going with cena and Batista, and Randy was mature enough, it could’ve definitely been a good time to do it though.
