And 20+ years later, they still refuse to make the entire WCW library available.

I can't believe how little utilized that the library was. They finally uploaded all the Nitros/Thunders in 2019 on the Network. out of the 150,000 hours, they don't even have 10% up, which is crazy.

There is no syndication for such content unless its online but who is going to watch old matches?
@chrisconnell8464

@@hartiwanger9176 I hate to agree with you, but by the time you scrub the content to cover ads, music etc it's probably just better to keep adding the newer content. I was just hoping they would at least add Heat/Velocity from 1999-2004 era. The old content is just not in demand unfortunately

I think at the very least all WCW Nitro, Thunders, and Saturday Nights should be on the network. I think the syndicated shows and other niche stuff might be too esoteric to be on the network

If Turner Broadcasts would’ve allowed WCW to stay on its network if WWF bought WCW, what would’ve been the plan?
@sidious187
@sidious187 2 ай бұрын
The plan was to run Nitro indefinitely, and likely continue Thunder Raw is war Smackdown Nitro Thunder All under the WWF umbrella If they had kept all four shows going for a year or so, all of the major contracts from Sting, Goldberg, Savage, Flair, Hogan, Hall, and Nash would have expired So they all eventually would have returned

Bischoff actually already had a deal in place to buy WCW from Turner while they still continued to air WCW programming. The only reason the deal fell through was because Turner decided to take away those TV time slots. Thus what ends up happening was Vince buying the company instead.

I wonder how many libraries WWE has bought of the old territories.
@horncrownedproductions9675

My big question, is if they were able to keep the timeslots they had on TNT/TBS for Nitro & Thunder, what would they have done? Would they really have continued airing shows head-to-head when Titan Sports owned both? I know there was talks of Nitro taking over Raw's spot but that was a totally different scenario that came up after TNT/TBS was completely out of the picture. It's wild to think they would have continued the war beyond just a storyline but still actually competing with themselves basically.

Most likely they would’ve grandfathered in legacy talent into WWF (Sting, Goldberg, DDP) or back into WWF (Hogan, Nash, Hall, Luger, etc) and then kept WCW brand/shows to feature more the cruiserweights and upcoming talent. From a power trip perspective that’s probably what Vince would’ve done
@horncrownedproductions9675
@horncrownedproductions9675 2 ай бұрын
@@murraysaucedo897 everyone you listed opted to not sign with Titan Sports though so every one of those guys is out except for DDP. And you're seriously telling me Vince would basically run WCW 205 in opposition of Raw? Are you being serious here or just wanting to take a shot at Vince?
@murraysaucedo897
@murraysaucedo897 2 ай бұрын
@@horncrownedproductions9675 I thought we were playing hypothetical what if but even still all those that opted out eventually came back hence they would've been absorbed or absorbed back. no, from a power trip perspective and knowing Vince's humiliation fetish he probably would've done his little war/invasion were WWF/E beats them and then as a result the WCW brand would become a cruiserweights only 1 hour show on the weekends (WCW Saturday Night) to further drive the point ie 'I beat them so bad now they're an inferior product of 'little men'

The way I see it, WCW was competition for WWE and Vince was eliminating it. ECW wasn’t competition for WWE, that’s why he didn’t invest in ECW. Just my opinion.

Conrad and team, if you didn’t notice, Bruce said that someone from turner called Stu Snyder, to see if the WWF wanted to purchase WCW. This proves right there that it wasn’t just an innocent call between Siegel and Snyder. 🤷🏻‍♂️

if the paul heyman opinion is true he was way off the mark. wcw was far from dead and could have easily been revived. reviving ecw was desperation move by wwe to try and recapture older fans who had stopped watching. wwe didn't care at all about ecw loyalists or its past. wwe wanted to create another brand to make money which took about a year for everyone to understand having the wool pulled over their eyes including paul heyman.

Been watching some of those old nitros from late 96 to mid 97 right now. Man they were really flawed and some of the entrance music was cheesey as it gets. Seemed like Raw from when it became raw is war in late March was actually better from a production standpoint.

Rey Mysterio as well. Everyone else lost their "it factor". Goldberg lost his edge altogether. It was sad I thought they were gonna treat him like Randy Orton. Feuding with HHH on Raw for a year then with Undertaker on Smackdown for a whole year. But he didnt wanna work anymore, and his ego thinking the audience should react the way it did in 1998.
