This is an ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC instructional and educational video! Every time I teach stress testing to my nursing and allied health students, I show them this video. Great job!!!!

Very helpful, but surely she should be using her fingers to actually locate where the electrodes go rather than just rough guessing? I know we're always under time constraints but it seriously affects results, especially when exercise testing. Also there's no need to leave such red marks on his skin when abrasing. It's just unpleasant for the patient and not necessary.

My last stress test put me in the hospital, it is no joke! The techs took it way too casual as they would NOT stop when I was feeling dizzy with massive chest pain. Told them to stop but they pushed on for over a minute later. Then.... cardiac arrest! be careful.
@dannygjk7 жыл бұрын
BULLSHIT If you even tell them you have tightness they WILL immediately stop the test.
@obligor50517 жыл бұрын
redwhitentrue I saw this video a few weeks ago before my test. I had my test today and you are correct. It is no joke indeed.
@dannygjk7 жыл бұрын
Obligor That part is true it's not as easy as they show in most videos. I had one a few days ago and my heart rate last time I checked before the end was 187. That treadmill was at the maximum angle and moving so fast I was jogging. I have to go again tomorrow morning lol because this time they are going to do a heart echo test before and after the exercise stress test.
@obligor50517 жыл бұрын
+Dan Kelly Well, no shit that part is true!I I just went through it man! This shit is for real!!! I asked them to stop many times and he said, "just 5 more second" I said STOP, he said it again "5 more seconds". That's the point. They will not stop until they reach the "data point. Do you agree or not? Apparently you do.

Stress testing, does not make harm, but your cardiac condition predispose you to any heart complications, unfortunately. The purpose of the test is to make ischemia visible.

Not a VO2 max test! A 12-lead EKG stress test is used to diagnose cardiac conduction problems. No mention of the function of the various leads. If you just need heart rate, use a simple heart rate monitor.
@res3404 жыл бұрын
Without any disrespect.... Was testing myself at gym. I crapped out early in stage 4, however I happened to notice many of the videos show the patient holding the railing. Not this video and this video showed 16%. Is it possible he slowed down a lot or stood on side not walking when you shot that? I don’t hold onto railings at all, that’s like getting a lift on a bench press, not “real”. No way I can run at 16% 4.5 mph after 9 minutes. Thank you for posting the video.

What was his time? I am wondering as i take the same test every 2 years due to open heart surgery [a 4x bypass] in 2002, it's a tough test running at such a grade My VO2 max seems to be 51 and i am in the superior category for my age [56] when i am at the gym and on the treadmill i keep the angle high to simulate the test, i start at 10 and 1.7 and follow the protocol

HRmax = 205.8 - (age x 0.685) is a much more accurate formula than using the standard 220 - age for predicting HR max...

I have a question? So do you fail the test if you are unable to get to your max HR? My max HR is 191, but when I do my test I find that I can only get to about 175-180 BPM, before I tire, however once I quit the test I do recover within 60-90 sec's.

Having this test as woman I am very nervous. Hospital told me I cannot wear a bra during the treadmill portion. I have to wear a bra with underwire all the time or am incredible discomfort. How is it possible to run without a bra and be unsupported. Even a sports bra with no underwire is not supportive enough. I am nervous about getting the lexiscan injection, which has been offered as an alternative to the treadmill due to the side effects. Has anyone else had this experience? Thank you

Sorry sweetheart, how do you do a VO2 max test without any pulmonary testing equipment (Y)
@cm2005rm12 жыл бұрын
My understanding is that you alcohol first than exfoliate to minimize patient discomfort. Also there was no immediate BP taken when the patient stopped the test. Overall pretty good quick tutoral. Would have been nice to see all the steps leading up to the actual test i.e. heart axis, hypervent etc.

@mpenn Жыл бұрын
Grade is the steepness, or degree of inclination, of a certain area of land. It is calculated based on the 'rise' over 'run' of the slope - Vertical rise / Horizontal run = Grade %.

@gcot29 Are you familiar with the type of exercise you were doing? If it was a bike then your muscles may become fatigued before you reach your max cardiac output. Is your max HR predicted? did you do the 220-age formula? If so then that is just guess. If you do the stress test and it comes out to 180 then your Max HR is 180. As long as ur within 12 of your predicted HR it's okay. AND you have to put MAX effort when you do the exercise test, suck it up if you want an accurate measurement.
