His touch, the dynamics, the nuance… it sounds like Bruce is singing the song. This is tremendous. It’s perfect. 10/10 only because you can’t be more perfect than perfect. Wow.

For anyone interested in understanding it a little better: He posted on IG that it was in open E-tuning with the exception of the high b-string being tuned down to F#. That's how he gets that one particular harmonic. (No clue how he got that idea! Please correct me if I'm wrong). That should help people understand his left hand a little more. Your posts are amazing Nathaniel!
@Zeppelinbarnatra2 жыл бұрын
Thanks David! You are correct. A big priority was getting the harmonics to ring out for as long as possible as they were mimicking the keyboard part of the song. However, with the B string being tuned down so low, it was nigh on impossible for it to stay in tune due to the gauge of the string. For this one, I actually got a tech at the store to put on a G string where the B would normally be and just tuned that to F#. Worked well but had intonation issues if you listen carefully you might be able to hear it.

This is not just a showcase of your ability to arrange a timeless piece, or your ability to be a soundsmith with your instrument, this just showcases how versitle a telecaster truly can be. I have had several over the years but not a neckbucker. It adds such depth to the middle setting. Bloody well done dude.

I was just sitting here, half ass picking along with the music in a movie my lady was diggin on, the starling, and I believe it was Brandi Carlisle... anyhow, as it ended, I started riffing on a A shuffle, kinda bluesy but not flat picking blues, and it reminded me of a tune so I came to YT, and searched fire by the boss, and of course my favorite rendition of it is Robin Williams doing it Elmer Fudd style, so I watched it, and so I scrolled a little bit when it ended, and happened upon this wonderful gem. I've played along with it at least a dozen times before this comment. This is absolutely euphoric to me, and I'm mesmerized, entranced, and can't get enough of it. Rest assured I'll check all your stuff out.
