Nice job Bruce. I thought I was the only one in the world who kind of got the Animals. I have been a huge fan since the 70s and somewhat idolized Eric Burdon and his approach to the music scene. When you hear top ten list of guitarist, singers, drummers, or any others... You don't hear the members of the Animals. But, when you here these "Top Ten" inductees talk about their influences... 9 out of 10 will say clearly "Eric Burdon and the Animals". Today, my top will always be Led Zeppelin. Because they were unique, and even with them people seem to overlook the talent of John Paul Jones (No Quarter comes to mind). He was Zeppelin period. In saying as much, I consider Eric Burdon and the Animals easily one of the top 5 most influencing bands of all time. And Eric Burdon much like Bruce, is a hard working, blue collar musician that people overlook so many times in the commercialized charts. When I die, one of my funeral songs to be played is "When I was young". It is the only way I can finish life paying tribute, and thanking Eric for writing the music that has helped me through so many times in life.

Been taking guitar lessons the past few months & a major highlight recently was learning to play Im Crying. I saw Eric & the boys in '64 at the NY Paramount theater. Words cannot possibly describe the impact their performance had on the crowd. To say the Animals caused sheer pandemonium among the audience, most especially the girls, would not be an understatement. You really had to be there to truly understand the power of this group. 55 years (!!) later, I still look back on this concert with huge smile.

No good lookin' members in The Animals? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ERIC BURDON was and still is smokin' hot. A gorgeous dark-haired Geordie with a very interesting physique and dazzlin' light in his beautiful eyes. He's one of the sexiest men in blues rock history, no doubt about it. A unique guy with unique beauty.

The Animals were the greatest. I agree with Bruce tho I never was a big fan of his. "We Gotta Get Out of This Place" is one of the greatest rock records ever.

Bruce says a lot of nice & true things about Eric & the Animals, but how could he possibly say "He was never a kid, like a shrunken daddy with a wig & None of them were good looking & were considered to be the ugliest group in Rock n roll & like a gorilla in a suit & They were cruel? He's either blind or out of his mind on these statements.! But his attempts at singing like Eric were pretty good.
