I uploaded this when the darkness set was released in 2010 on my channel which was my highest viewed video by far (75k plus) When youtube notified it was taken down I hoped it was due to be released on the official channel and here it is. Very happy to see it here.

This is such a great cut on "Darkness" and so unique,nothing else in Bruce's catalog sounds like it really. But this version lands it in my upper echelon top 5% of his songs. As someone who loves Hard Rock/ Metal I love when Bruce throws down and he doesnt just shred,his solos and riffs are so melodic.Just scrolled down and saw I gushed over it 5 mnths ago 😅

Coming across this Boss performance as I was traveling down the E Street rabbit hole. Stop. Don’t pass Go. And, Wow! What a frig’n gem! The Boss rock’s on all cylinders, 8.0 fuel injected, and Souped-Up. The Boss putting it out there, reckless abandon and raw to the soul! With all due respect, The Boss in utter Beast Mode - hungry and feast’n! As we say in the Garden State: Frig’n Epic! Thanks, Boss for laying All on the line for the whole world, these many decades!

The Darkness album and tour featured wonderful guitar work by Springsteen - he really knew how to make it talk, extending his emotions and vocals with his six strings. All versions of this songs are powerful.

My current and for last few months favorite Bruce song.Ferocious,,,everything about it,throwing down guitar riffs,killer solos and absolutely snarling vocals.The '78 tour every song sounded better than the album version or any other tour.

im a new fan, its insane to me to think how big of a rock star he was at this point, soon to release the river.. and then take a left turn and release Nebraska. and not tour for it. then do born in the USA and zoom hes off to the Milky Way. what a wild story.

I see this video and I think..."There is the 19 year-old Springsteen with all of the passion for whatever may happen in the future..." I know this is the Darkness tour, I was there in 1978...but his voice is singing from a passion of a younger kid, trying to figure out the world. The lyrics are all over the place...what do they mean...in the end, I don't care. Exploding with the passion and confusion is good enough for me; angry, needing to figure it out, exploding with guitars and drums...

A fucking great rock guitar solo....Bruce was capable of tearing Jimmy Page style stuff from his guitar (just listen to some of the old Steel Mill shows...) but by the time of Darkness, he realized a hot guitar solo wasn't going to be the record he wanted to make. jrpipik Google: Strung out on the Old Barbed wire He adds the word “cross” in one part. I’m guessing the image is that of Christ, sacrificed on the cross. The song was written for a movie, but wasn’t used in it.
@jrpipik5 жыл бұрын
@@Caperhere I don't hear that at all. Why would he say "strung out on the old barbed wire" just before he says "Cause I'm strung out on a wire"? The lyric sheet for Darkness leaves this line bland and even the closed caption for the concert the band did for the 30th anniversary just skips it.
@Caperhere5 жыл бұрын
jrpipik He doesn’t say about the barbed wire. That is an old song from the First World War. You’d need to Google the song called: Strung Out on the Old Barbed Wire. When men in the trenches would be ordered to attack, they could, and did, get shot, and die in the wire barricades. Their bodies would be hung there, like Christ on the cross. I heard “ inside the wire” in a Jason Isbell song. He was singing about going back for another tour of duty overseas. I found the lyrics online. If I haven’t explained it well enough, let me know, please. I can tend to be all over the page sometimes.
