To all hating on Demi for being present - you’ve never had to deal with caring for a person with Dementia. It’s freaking exhausting! Imagine providing 24/7 care to a full grown and physically strong adult with no safety awareness, occasional agitation, escape attempts, incontinence, no real sleep schedule, unable to even dress or feed themself plus so much more. You’ll need all the help you can get. Not to mention, what gives you or anyone the right to judge?

His wife is not a victim. She is a wife, partner and now a caregiver. Sickness or health is in your wedding vows. Is it difficult? Yes. Is it impossible? No. You can care for your loved one and set aside much needed time for yourself. Self care is very important during challenging times. I am SO happy that Demi is still present. Lucky you haven’t apparently been touched directly by this malady. Nobody said his wife is a victim but it’s possible Bruce thinks Demi is his wife (vs. ex). Re; daughters, reminds me of mother-in-law with dementia who greeted a complete stranger like a long lost friend (big hugs) and her own son with a puzzled look and "Who’s he?".

My husband has frontal lobe dementia. It’s exhausting, sad, takes up so much time, you want that person you knew back but they are gone. They formed that support system I think it’s beautiful. I don’t have that much support.

I had the same symptoms as he and his daughter Tallulah, was given less than a year to live. Found out that I was actually Celiac, and after being gluten free for one year and able to absorb nutrition my symptoms disappeared, that was 15 years ago. I didn't die and found that in 2006 the Mayo Clinic says all persons 70 years and younger that are diagnosed with any dementia be tested for Celiac disease. My PET scans after one year showed zero plaques and zero lesions. SOMEBODY PLEASE GET BRUCE and TALLULAH tested, it is reversible and neither need to die or live in misery.

Give me a break. With all due respect to all and importantly to Bruce,this man could be holding on to a tree. He's going fast and I'm sure Emma is grateful for the emotional support. EMMA is the one who needs it more,she's a young woman with pre teen children and her beloved husband is gone. Gone emotionally and physically. This has to be so traumatic for her and her 2 children. The others are adults and doesn't mean they don't feel the absence of their warm ,loving father,they can handle it. So ,I am glad that Demi comes around ,so Emma can get a massage, sleep,cry .We don't know Bruce Willis but through his gift that he gave us with his movies, we feel his absence too.

When my father was diagnosed with this same disease, it took all of us to care for him. First wife (my mother) and second wife pitched in and all were grateful for the support. Near the end, Dad only recognized my mother as they knew each other as teens. She took the final ambulance ride with him to hospice.

Perhaps Emma views Demi and her daughters with Bruce as welcome respite care and as helpful, loving caregivers. I work with dementia patients doing in home care, and I can assure you it is wearing on the hearts and souls of those who live with and care for them. Sometimes care is needed so the non-afflicted loved ones can take a much needed breather/break for the care giver’s mental health and well being. You know that old saying about don’t judge until you’ve walked a mile in those shoes? Definitely applies here. I’m sure there are times when Emma would just like to be alone with Bruce and just their children, and for all we know, she has that time regularly. However, I think it shows a kindness and generosity of spirit on Emma’s part to allow Demi’s help, and also Demi’s part for wanting to be of help and being their for their blended families. I think it’s commendable that both families can come together in kindness, love and caring of their father and spouse/former spouse.
