Didn't know you guys were using Murs radios up there in Canada we have that in the USA that are license free only five channels

Strange question but would it be alright to install something similar to this or exactly this onto a smaller vehicle? Reason I’m asking is I always am going roadtripping and or hitting canyons and figured this would be great for the moments when I have no signal or emergency situations would also be good

For those that are wondering that one radio, including installation and the extra pieces for using the remote head comes out to just under $3000. That doesn't include the handhelds or second mobile radio

Nice upgrade... plenty of power too by the sounds of it... 50 watts... The roofs come off and the windscreens fold down on Jeeps don't they, so mounting up near the sunvisor or in a roof console is not an option I suppose...
@BruceCookfmx9 ай бұрын
Yeah pretty limited. Been happy with the mounting spot so far 👍🏻

Those radios should have nxdn built in with basic encryption. Setup a channel you and your buddis can use to have private communications
@MrBailey4143 ай бұрын
They do. And for just a few bucks more you can license DMR, and ARC-4 Encryption.

@MrBailey414 nxdn on narrowband has better low signal preformance then dmr,

@@Yippynutsmacker all digital formats are narrow band
@Yippynutsmacker3 ай бұрын
@MrBailey414 dmr uses 12.5 TDMA) while nxdn can use 12.5 or 6.25 which is very narrow, if your only using voice there is no quality difference between the 2, but the narrower bandwidth does help, especially in urban environments with lots of interference.

@@Yippynutsmacker 12.5 and 6.25 are both considered “narrow band”.

out of curiosity, you got a business license?
@BruceCookfmx Жыл бұрын
For what?
@bumloudson Жыл бұрын
@@BruceCookfmx I think @henriquemiranda5478 is trying to tell you that you do realize that these radios do require an FCC license, right? There are no MURS or other "business band" channels that allow you to run the kind of power these mobile radios produce. Unless you're an amateur radio operator using them in the amateur bands, if you aren't licensed for the frequencies you are using, you're leaving yourself liable. Will anything happen? Probably not. But I sure wouldn't publicize it to the world on KZbin.

@@bumloudson I think you failed to realize this is in British Columbia, Canada and they are using LADD channels.
@billreid206611 ай бұрын
@@bumloudsonall he needs is a license from Industry Canada to use those RR frequencies. It is under $50 a year and simple to get. I have the same radio and it is set up for the RR channels as well as a bunch of ham repeaters and simplex frequencies

That was a horrible mounting location for the antenna. It will severely affect your signal/range. Who's idea was that? If you only need to talk short distances it will work but then why bother with a 50 watt radio if you are only talking short distances.
@BruceCookfmx3 ай бұрын
Where do you suggest? Very limited spots where it won’t get ripped off. We have talked about 25km apart before
