今天的禱告大軍迎接復興 劉牧師提到這首詩歌！ 我父親於2011年2月14日情人節在笑聲中驟然離世，和母親天上相見。 我與丈夫帶著複雜心情立刻回台灣，下飛機直達殯儀館。 在休息室等待家人來到， 神安排10幾位拿著歌譜的詩班員，正練習要獻唱的詩歌， 就是這首 「平安有時如寧靜河」 我深深感受到神同在， 神親自安慰， 心靈被神觸摸到的平安。 我跟著她們唱了兩遍， 詩班員就去換詩袍， 家人剛巧也到了。

Absolutely brilliant. A song with a story that has lived on in its significances for over 100 years. A true story of the life of Horatio Spafford and his wife who lost their only son than then tragically the rest of his children, 4 daughters, at sea. A story of faith that deserves to be heard by all - inspirational. I am happy to see these wonderful tenors sing this faithful song about a man & women who lost all but gave the rest of their lives spreading their faith in Isreal to Jews & Muslims alike.

Yeoh threatened to cancel the concert unless he Three Tenors agreed to sing this hymn. Once they understood the background, Pavarotti was especially moved and wholeheartedly agreed to sing this hymn. The result was a smashing success and everyone benefited. To be there on August 3rd was a lifetime experience and Yeah paid for the entire concert. Admission was free.

I wish to personally say that I am addicted to this video for three reasons: the tenors excellency as usual with them; the depth of the words that pulls my heart up to heaven, if I may say that; and the dedication of Francis Yeoh and his total involvement with the words, music and Spirit of the song. Very touching story and great attitude on the part of millionaire Francis Yeoh paying for this tribute to Mr.Spafford BUT the one who placed this Hymn into history through his inspired and powerful music HAS NOT even been mentioned! Under the original title "Ville du Havre" we owe it to the composer Philip Paul Bliss (9 July 1838 - 29 December 1876). Otherwise the inspired words would have remained only as a touching memorial poem. Both Spafford and Bliss were also associated with the famed evangelist Dwight L. Moody

Came back to this video and is refreshed anew just like before. I sent this link to a pastor Francois du Plessis who's videos are also on KZbin. A soft spoken man and deep Christian and he wrote back after listening to the video for the first time that it was so beautiful that he could not prevent a tear from falling. "When difficulties arise, as they will, remember that Jesus is by your side, a very present help in time of need. To meet trial bravely is part of the Christian warfare, and in this warfare all heaven is interested. Christ knows what temptations you will meet. He knows that when one accepts the truth he or she will have a cross to lift, and He is ready to give the needed help. At the moment when you are offering your prayer for help, you may not feel all the joy and blessing that you would like to feel; but if you believe that Christ will hear and answer your petition, the peace of Christ will come." Horatio Gates Spafford eventually left Chicago and went to Israel, i think in 1881 though I may have the date wrong. In my film script "Moody the Revivalist" I wrote that Ira Sankey was told of the poem at Spafford's home; hence was able to give a copy to P. P. Bliss before his tragic death in 1876?? who composed the music to "it is Well"
