Waiting for some parts to arrive, so I thought I would get some of the Bruders out for a run. Using a Turnigy i6s transmitter which gives great control and mixing on the fork, but a bit slow using the bucket (I sorted this in the build series). The hot swap between accessories makes is great fun!
As a rough guide, the total cost of the conversion including the original toy & accessories, the RC, battery & all the components that I had to buy was around £170. Build time maybe 15 - 20 hours.
Links to free download of 3D printer parts : www.thingivers...
Printing instructions: all but the ram cylinder can be printed together - using ‘support everywhere’. The cylinder must not have any supports in the print file. I just used a ‘brim’ & 100% infill. I printed one set in PLA+ and the other in PETG. The cost for me to provide a full set of PETG 3D parts would be £40 GBP (plus tracked world-wide postage) - please email me on RCmodders@icloud.com if you would like me to do this for you.
Here is a list of many the tools/parts that I used for the conversion I have included affiliate links - as this may be a way to help me fund future builds on the channel:

Small 20A ESC’s (2 needed - one for driving along, the other to power the telescopic arm): US link: amzn.to/2DIisaZ

100 rpm 6v N20 drive motors (4 needed) : (similar) US link: amzn.to/2Lfo7vu

Z-bender pliers that I always use for connecting rods : ebay.to/2SCPCh6
These would also be fine: US link: amzn.to/2ZPEO3R
UK link: amzn.to/2JhtGHp
Mini servos (2 needed - 1 for steering, 1 for bucket): hobbyking.com/...
20kg servo to lift telescopic arm (whatever you do, make sure servo does not bind at either end of travel as it will fry the ESC) : US link: amzn.to/2DES01V
UK link: amzn.to/2Ja15DA Ebay link: ebay.to/2GUdKu9
LiFe battery used (any 2s lipo less than or equal to 55x17x30mm should be OK, limit travel on throttle and ram motor esc on TX if using 7.2v instead of the 6.6v LiFe) : bit.ly/2VwZWcf (from Component Shop in the UK - good capacity & fits well). UK amazon link: amzn.to/2VMoHFj
Lead screw rod (make sure not to but hardened rods as you won’t be able to drill them): ebay.to/2GWjGTq
Servo extension lead (for bucket servo) - I just used the ones that come RC lighting sets. If using a normal extension lead, around 300mm / 12 inches would be fine.
I used a few bolts from this set: US link: amzn.to/2GYcPrn
UK link: amzn.to/2VJ4aRC Plus various longer sizes including a couple of countersunk bolts as detailed in the videos.
Very thin (approx. 1mm outer diameter) silicon wire to run from motors to ESC’s from Component Shop in the UK (they are always really helpful &b knowledgeable) : www.components...
Excellent resource to gain and share knowledge of the Bruder conversions can be found here : www.facebook.c... (this is a ‘closed’ Face Book group, so don’t forget to answer the 3 questions - designed to weed out robots - if you want to join).

Hey Aaron thanks for taking the time to watch this. It took a surprising amount of time to plan and prepare, but I am happy with the outcome for a first go at this sort of video. I always planned to use the Bruder conversions with each other - and give people a simple & inexpensive way of converting multiple models to use like this. I'm very happy with how easy it is to use - mixing the channels on the arm lift and fork/bucket angle makes it loading very intuitive and the unique latching (ie non proportional) way that the i6s transmitter wheels (VRA & VRB) are really great for this - ie when you adjust the fork angle it just stays that way. You pay a small penalty on the speed of the bucket in digger mode, but it is still very usable. Some parts are starting to turn up, so I'll be able to get back to the build videos! 😀👍

Someone is having too much fun 😏😁😎👍🏼 Looks like a blast great video. On your quick release buckets etc are you using a 🧲 if not magnet one side and just a small piece of metal on the attachments. This way you don’t jeopardize loosing a load 😲😂🤓

Hi there and thanks! These are just stock Bruder people - one of the reasons that I decided to convert Bruder models in the first place. They fit in all the vehicles, have great articulation & look OK. Not being able to find suitable figures, that fit well, at a good price for my RC trucks & crawler has always been a bit frustrating. You can find them easily on Ebay and Amazon (where mine mainly come from) as well as loads of toy shops. Some of the Bruder models even come with a figure. They are so good & faces painted well, that I probably wouldn't want to try & make 3D copies. 😀👍

Hey bud can u give me the n20 motor part number I'm ready to get the build started I really appreciate your time showing us this
@RCModders

Brilliant! I think that this is the number you need : 21120035 - seems to be printed on the bags that the motors came in - even from different places. BTW I'm almost though filming the next stage of the build. then a few hours of editing & then hopefully upload within the next 24 hours or so. 😀👍

I really like the way you converted this piece of equipment! It tourns out very well. Is it able to even move some dirt?

With more weight (eg lead added under the body etc) , a stronger bucket servo, a more programable transmitter (to get faster bucket movement), etc I expect that it probably could. I am trying to keep the cost of all my conversions down, so that people can build them without spending a whole lot of cash. Most of them could be upgraded quite easily to be much more capable, but it comes at a price. Thanks for the great question! 🙂👍

I don't know what I like better, the RC controlled landing gear & loading ramps on the Bruder trailer, or the , or the RC converted telehandler.
@RCModders
@RCModders 5 жыл бұрын
Both are fun. The telehander is new to me & I could play with it for hours. Needs a bit more fine tuning on the transmitter programming & maybe I'll try a different servo on the end of the arm. 🙂👍

Thanks Jeff. I think that Turnigy i6s transmitter wheel controllers for the lift and bucket is more suited to the forks - makes it very controllable. I prefer the bucket with the Spektrum dx8 transmitter. But its nice to be able to switch between the accessories on the fly! 🙂👍

What a tremendous video - not only does it showcase the excellent job you´ve done of converting these Bruder models to RC, but it´s a thoughtfully-shot, beautifully edited film in its own right. I´d love to see what sort of video you´d produce if given a small team and an appropriate shooting location!

Thank you Del. A true compliment from a master film-maker of the tiny screen! Perhaps one day you could do a voice over for me on a video like this? and I could replace the audio. When the weather is warmer I'll get outside with the Bruders. I seem to be amassing quite a collection. I had so many batteries charging and lost track of which model was on what transmitter & what buttons or knobs to press! Good fun foe a couple of hours though! 🙂👍

@@RCModders My dear chap - I´d never dare think of myself as a "master film-maker", but I´m glowing warmly at the compliment nonetheless. I´d be very happy to do a voiceover, though I have no means to record audio bar my cheap camera. As soon as you introduce lots of models to a shoot the logistic requirements seem to positively blossom, don´t they? I once crashed my Twister Skylift because I´d spent that morning driving an RC tank, and suddenly utterly forgot how to fly the heli - all I could think was "this stick traverses the turret and depresses the gun" and it took me too long to recalibrate...
