An excellent tutorial that I found useful to upgrade this old E5-571-30AL laptop I have been given. I added the max of 16gb of RAM and an SSD, both will speed it up. If I can give anyone new reading this a tip. The internal silver screws; The fan has 2x flat top thinner thread screws. The WIFI board has 1x flat top, thinner thread screw. The battery and main board screws are the same, as are the drive screws. Once the front panel has been snapped into place, before screwing in all 18 retaining screws, fit the battery, flip it over, power it up and find a way to test the keys )I used a notepad doc.). This can be helpful in case the keyboard connector has not been fully fitted. If that works, power it down and fit the 18 screws then enjoy your upgraded laptop.

Excellent video, thanks for clear explanations, I was able to upgrade this ancient laptop that was not used for years to 16Gb and give it a new life. The only problem was reconnecting keyboard ribbon, the plastic piece wouldn't hold the ribbon in place (very poor design by Acer), but thanks to USB keyboard it's not a big issue.

Hello Brue ! First of all I wanted to thank you very much for this tutorial. I've had the same Aspire since about 2015 (typing this comment on it right now) and always find myself coming back to your tutorial, which I saved in my "watch later playlist" when I wanted to change something. I've replaced the HDD then put a SSD, I will also be adding some RAM in a few days. I wanted to thank you for your help : your tutorial is very well explained and you always show what you're doing with a fine camera angle Now my question is : do you think it is feasible to replace the GPU and CPU on this PC ? I've always found it funny that GPU and CPU shared the same heatsink on this laptop. Thanks again. Thank you for showing us how to increase our devices' lifespan instead of throwing it in the trash and buying a new one !

Hey, thanks for the kind words and really pleased its been so helpful! The CPU/GPU are soldered to the mainboard, so can't really be upgraded unfortunately. This is common for pretty much all modern laptops though.

Hello, thank you for the video. I may have a stupid question, sorry. Please, is there another physical storage medium in this computer other than the hard drive (which you changed to an SSD) and RAM? In the operating system of this computer (specifically Acer e5-511-p9qs) it shows me that drive C and also drive D are installed there. It's just an internal partition, but physically these two are located in one HDD that you just changed ? Or is there another medium out there somewhere, please? Thank you very much!

Hi, I need your help. I have the same laptop and i think its CMOS BIOS battery has failed. As seen in the video 6:30 the battery is soldered to the board and it says "ML 1220 Rechargeable Battery" which i couldn't find online. Can i replace it with a CR1220 non rechargeable battery? will there be any problems?

should be no problem, the battery is only used to keep bios configs. funny part you also can use a huge lipo. you only have to look for the same voltage as the ML 1220 Rechargeable Battery is! same is your cr1220 just look for the voltage.

I got a E5 571G, it's an old laptop but it got a Dedicated gpu (840M4gb) so it's still holding on and fighting for its life😂. You should get a newer laptop for 2024/2025 because there are a lot more cheaper laptop with a good specs now.

Laptops aren't upgradeable like this. Most Laptops use a different formfactor and and the cpu's are permanently installed. If you want to do something like this you need a laptop from "Framework" or something. your laptop is upgradeable in hdd/ssd, ram and wifi like most laptops.

Had the same happening to me a while ago when I wanted to install some more RAM in my son's (older) laptop. In the end I realized the laptop was not made to operate with the 1666MHz RAM. I will have to find older, slower RAM.

The RAM should be a maximum of 16 GB and it should be a little old

No, The CA3-8D128-HP has a M.2 PCIe NVMe Interface, although it is an SSD its a different interface, you need a SATA interface, you could use an external NVMe enclosure, they are not to expensive, you will need a full length enclosure to fit your CA3-8D128-HP in, make sure the end that plugs into the laptop is USB 3

It's pretty clear that my fingertips weren't meant to be holding these tiny screws. Especially when I also must place the correct end into the correct hole and then twist applying only a slight amount of down force. Such a non-chalant video moving right along with his brutish tone and inflection. Cannot count the times I froze the video or started ot over from the inside removal. My laptop is in shambles and there is now way I'm getting the black and white antennae to simply push back onto their slots. No damn way. His soft upbeat formal non-chalant voice being repeated for maneuvers I still haven't completed has tapped my insanity and I must find another to direct me. Hope yall had better luck

My laptop did not come apart as easily as yours and those 3 cables came out when I was pushing it. The computer turns on and the touchpad works, but my keyboard does not work :( It cannot hold the cable and it comes out. Do you think I can tape that cable to the motherboard? Or will the tape melt and damage the laptop?

@@marioisraelhernandez671 Try placing the keyboard cable at a steeper angle instead of pushing it parallel to the base like other flat cables. I didn't pay attention to this, so as soon as I inserted the cable, it came back out. I placed it at a slightly steeper angle and taped it after it was firmly in place. In this way my problem was solved. If you are lucky like me and the cable and cable port are not damaged, you can use your keyboard again.
