I live in Bruges (not the center, but ~15 minutes outside the center), and you did (and recommend in the video at 6:20) something that I too recommend to people: wander around and get lost in the city. Great to hear you enjoyed it so much here! Some people might forget how beautiful their own city is (not talking about Bruges specifically here) because they see it everyday. Somehow, I think I'm immune to this: each time I go to the center (which is quite frequently) I fall in love again, and especially when I hear the Belfry play (either automated, or someone playing the Carrillon) Also, I don't know if you guys know but 8:25 "it reminded us a lot of Venice"... There's a reason that people call Bruges also "The Venice of the North"

there's a lot to see in Bruges including: 1. The only work of Michelangelo outside of Italy is inside the Church of our lady (The one with the big Spire) 2. Many art museums in the area which capture the Renaissance of Bruges which is called the "Flemish primitives" 3. Minnewaterpark is a very pretty place with river slowly flowing in the middle with a nice view. 4. Begijnhof is a place where women which were disrespected by society would live, Nuns still live there to this day. 5. The belfry on the market square is called "Belfry of Bruges" or "De Hallentoren" (Tower of The Halls) it isn't a Church nor is it a Cathedral, but it was/is mainly used as the Alarm/clock of the city 6. Bruges was once the most prosperous place in Europe somewhere in the 1400s and was connected with the sea, but after that connection dried up it was left in a famine and was slowly revived as a tourist attraction, you are looking at a medieval town which is stuck in time, You are watching what Bruges once was, filled with merchants and grand artist from around Europe. 7. The church of our holy lady is the 2nd tallest brick tower in the world 8..... I could go on and on about Bruges, i feel like it's even more enjoyable if you know some facts about the city as well. If you ever come back i have these recommendations: -Visit the city of Ypres: A city which was destroyed in world war 1 that has been completely rebuild. It has the huge Cloth hall which was famous for its well... cloth. From the Vatican to saint Petersburg. It has created many art pieces for a lot of rich people back in the day. It's also a very good place for WW1 memorials since it is not that far from Passchendaele. Ypres has a gate called "The menin gate", a big structure pointed towards Passchendaele with a big list of soldiers of which nothing was found. 600 000+ People died there and it's one of the biggest battlegrounds of WW1. -Visit Ghent: A larger city which houses a HUGE university with lots of medieval architecture and the castle called "Het Gravensteen". It's just Bruges but bigger. -Visit Antwerp: The second largest city in Belgium which became the most prosperous harbor after Bruges lost it's connection to the sea and you can clearly see that once you visit. -Visit Mechelen: This place houses a cathedral which is 97 metres tall, but the fun thing about this cathedral is that it was intended to be 167 metres tall, this would've made it the world's largest church/cathedral ! -...... I can recommend a lot of things abt Belgium, there are so many towns to see but i have to stop somewhere, i'm glad you enjoyed your trip here :))

@birgerbaert61752 жыл бұрын
Okay so, I'm gonna say a few things. 1. How that person pronounced Brugge is not how you pronounce Brugge. He pronounced the G hard compared to the typical Flemish G sounds, but the G sound in West Flemish is pronounced as an H. 2. I saw you enter the Dumon chocolate store and that's a same. Nothing against Dumon, but i feel you should've experienced the chocolate line. They are the most famous and simply the best and most unique. They'd appeared in Reuters ans CNN I think. 3. I didn't know you could enter the church in Damme and i have been living in Bruges for 33 years (I'm turning 34 next week 😉). Thank you for that early birthday gift. 😁 4. I took the girl I'm dating right on to sit on top of the mill in Bruges on our first date. Let me tell you that it has been an amazing 3 months since then. Keep up the vlogging, guys. Your daughter is adorable 😁

I was there 2 weeks ago and the 3 best ways to view the city are,canal boat,city tour mini bus €20 50mins and cycle hire. Don't fund the horse carriages as they are over worked in the heat and have to stand all day on the hard grown and didn't have any water for them. You could see the horses stamping thier feet while they stand around waiting. Seeing the horses being whipped for a tourist attraction needs to stop.
