+HBvD P.s. ik mis eigenlijk die verlichte borden snelheids borden van vroeger, althans dat herinner ik mij van vroeger. Volgens mij waren het borden die met 70 er op, en die van achter verlicht werden.

+HBvD Klopt, maar echter ... toen ik deze opname maakte, stonden de borden er al niet meer en waren ze vervangen voor pagborden (knipperlicht met brugbord). Daarnaast is het lastig om ze te filmen. Je moet dan eigenlijk toestemming hebben om langs een gevaarlijk punt te mogen staan.

And for those who don't understand the Dutch language: "Slagbomen dalen automatisch" means "Barriers go down automatically". The warning is there because nobody can check if you are trying to slow things down, and then you'll get a barrier on top of your car roof (well, there should be more protection, but still...)

Zwart Sluis en Blauwe Hand zijn wel mooie gebieden om eventueel een paar bruggen te filmen. Zwolle is ook wel een paar mooie stadsbruggen rijk. Maar toch moet ik eerlijk zeggen dat treinen/spoorwegovergangen het beter doen op KZbin.

I was curiously looking at this location on google maps, and I realised they made the bridge smaller! I was so dissapointed. I wanted to see this sometime if I visit that place. But they shrank the bridge a long time ago.

The technical lay-out of this bridge has indeed changed when they did a thorough renovation back in 2014. This was necessary because the lifespan of the drawbridge decks were nearing their end and also in the years prior to the renovation there were a lot of serious incidents happening with the safety systems, including one where the bridge suddenly went up a few meters without the warning lights blinking and without the barriers down: a car crashed into the bridge which left the occupants hospitalized with severe injuries. So they had to remove and replace the lot: the barriers, the gantries and poles with the warning lights, the whole cable structure, the systems in the control-room and also the machinery and moveable parts in the drawbridge basement below. They didn’t actually shrunk the drawbridge decks when they installed the new system, but they replaced the truss-gantry’s with lighter and cheaper materials with only two warning light clusters per direction. They then placed the new gantry’s more near the drawbridge decks. Also the new (single arm) barriers were placed more near the drawbridge itself so it looks like the bridge is smaller. I sure think it’s a pity also, I kinda liked the system back in the old days with the “Christmas tree warning lights”. Sorry for the long post haha!
