Bruno (in the movie) said they will meet again…not as a soldier and she wouldn’t recognize him then. Maybe after the war he did somehow survive (in the end, it was indicated he may have just ‘disappeared’ like she did). So maybe the music connected them many years later…Who knows. Fun to use our imagination. Don’t forget, the story was incomplete before the author was sent to the concentration camp and died. Her book cantered on love and humanity among the chaos. Love never dies.

The author's daughter lived to see the publication of the two completed short stories. I know everyone wants to dream of romance, but the story of Bruno and Lucille ended as seen.
