A lot of the things she was upset about, isn’t his fault. Him being nominated for Album of the Year and Prince wasn’t, he can’t control that. Him having curly hair, he can’t control that. Other ppl/the mass media enjoying “black music” from non black artists, isn’t his fault. He grew up listening to those styles of music, so no doubt he’s gonna take it and do it his way. The same way MJ did, with being inspired by James Brown, Fred Astaire and others. He took that and did it his way. As MJ said, which is one of my favorite sayings especially in the music industry. “Study the greats, and become greater.”

Prince didn't care about commercial awards and public accolades. The reason he never received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was because he rejected it...twice.

Bruno has NEVER been pop, his music crosses music walls so that is the reason he is POPULAR! So that young lady and those who agree with her are small minded. Great point on how hard he has worked to become the best version of himself. Also there is a video of Teddy Riley and Andre Harrell talking about how he sent Bruno to work with Babyface to continue to sharpen his talent.

Josephine Vencer agreed. It definitely sounded like she wanted grab more views and hits. There were too many contradictions in her argument and she made that clear the moment she opened up about her hate for him.

All l know is Bruno Mar's mother is a full blooded Filipina from Cebu Philippines and his father is a Puertorqueño. I am not aware he is Jewish descent.

Now in this case brutha I'm going to say fact! If I were to accuse Bruno of anything it's lifting a decades sound and I would have said passing it off as something new but that is not his fault. If people today don't know that say uptown funk is derivative of James Brown's living in America or that Finesse is a bit of a watered down 90's new jack swing beat that is their issue. Well that and their parents for not playing the music they grew up with. The sad fact is that this generation only has a pop culture history of no more than 10 years. Anything longer than that just doesn't exist

No one knew Bruno wasn't black, so that white people care about where it comes from is not true. Good music is good music. Eneryone thought he was black. I believe black people had a huge influence on music. But I think it's wrong to be prejudice against anyone else playing it. You shouldn't give it to the world then turn around and say you can listen but you can't perform it. Here's the sheet music just don't get good at it. I prefer a world where music belongs to everyone. Just like it's been up to this moment. Music shouldn't be a racial thing. People should be free to express themselves. Not to segregate music genres.

We all need to think out of the box. When you bring Teena Marie and Jon B in to the Fray, 1st both were in relationships with black people. which means they like our Rhythm in our blues.l Truth be told some people did think they were appropriating however it was enough African-American artist at the top of their game of their genre of music getting accolades. I think miss use of the word appropriation because Bruno does give respect to the black soul artist who he copies. The problem is and it has always been is that the industry loves to see a different kind of person sing American black music you will be rewarded if you have what is needed. They will reward you for and that’s what she meant so it’s not so much Bruno‘s fault because anybody that can profit why wouldn’t they. It is the way the world works it’s been done for so many years, who can sell this product. No one has ownership over the genre of music.Black people are protective of the music because once before their music was taken from American blacks. Again I will say, Bruno it’s not the villain in the story he’s very talented he makes the music that gives Nostalgia. that’s why we like it because it was from American blacks. And the sad part of it is the black peoples that made the music they were not award when they made it originally. Thanks to watching the conversation on the Grapevine and Calvin aMusician that does KZbinVideos they showed me how to look at the big picture. This is about profit! And some erasure. You see they just made a cartoon artist that raps. I think they signed the cartoon creator. There has to be a limit.✌🏾🧘🏾‍♂️⚖️ remember to listen to effectively communicate not reply.🤷🏽‍♀️🤪😝😇😎 5:12

Did you accuse Teena Marie when she was alive of this! What a crock of s/?!;t. Bruno Mars is amazing and black music belongs to him just like all of us. So proud of Silk Sonic. Bruno keep on doing what you do. Your amazing. Loooooove you and Anderson Paak so much.

Let's exclude people based on their race. Yeah that's not a racist thing. Right? Let's make music something you can only play if you stay in your lane. You can't perform certain genres if you don't have enough melanin. Not racist at all. Why should we be inclusive and share music genres and be free to go from one genre to another???

This is pure bullshit? Are black people misappropriating when they sing opera and play golf? Is Eminem misappropriating when he records a rap? In fact, some of us call Eminem the GOAT. Get a life and stop this nonsense. Enough is enough.
